Hi all, I bought an Astra 2.0 CDTI recently and they fitted a new cambelt and waterpump as part of the sale. Just 2 weeks after getting the car the auxiliary belt shredded and snapped on the M11 and subsequently the brakes, power steering and just about every other light came on on the dash before the battery lost charge and it died. The garage I bought it from took the car back and put a new aux belt and battery in under warranty. They said the reason the belt snapped was due to a lose pulley but they went no where near that when they changed the cam belt so it wasn't their fault. Is that correct? I'd have thought the aux belt needs removing to do a cam belt change? Also cause the whole left hand side of the engine bay is covered in shredded belt dust, Im worried about whether the cam belt needs changing again, but they reckon not. Any advice welcome.
Oh also aside from all that the car has broken again and I have the service vehicle soon message. Done an opcom code read and coming back as glow plug pressure sensor cylinder 1. I'm assuming this is unrelated but unlucky. They're refusing the do that under warranty which is annoying. So far this car hasn't been the best purchase!
Hey not much of a car guy but I’ve got an Astra and I need to get some front and back bumpers but I can’t find the model of my car it’s says it’s an Astra exclusiv 98 but can’t find no parts for it my number plate is DK60SKF can someone find the model for me would hugely appreciate it
Hello,
New on here. I have just bought (picking it up on Tuesday) a 15 plate Astra with the Navi 650 and looking to upgrade so i can have bluetooth and music streaming. I see a couple of posts on here that the Navi 950 can be fitted. Rusty seems to be pretty knowledgeable about this.
I understand that you need the head unit to code it, etc but is the actual changeover of the head unit as simple as removing and unplugging the 650 then plugging in the 950 then refitting all the trim, etc? Is there any additional wiring required? I take it i would need to install a mic to make phone calls but is that the extent of the additional work required to install the 950?
Is there anyone in or around East Lothian, Scotland who can carry this work out? there is a local car audio place to me (called Car Audio Stuff, Dunbar) but i'm not sure he's too keen on installing second hand equipment or equipment he's not sure about.
the problem is with my car but the temperature gauge is fully maxed out so am guessing there’s something over heating but just what and when I turn the engine on it doesn’t start sometimes and when it does the the engine starts shaking any chance you know what the problem is Would hugely appreciate it
I could swear when I replaced my discs and pads two years ago, I saw a post on here about replacing the rubber sleeved slide pins with plain ones (by buying two packs). Cannot find it with any searching.
Anyway, I didn't do that back then (only had the one set) but I'll be damned the brake squeal has come back and I'm betting the caliper is sticking on that rubber boot two years later.
Looking to replace the slide pins for simply greased plain pins, that an ok/recommended thing to do and are the same pins used throughout the range? Looks like my new workshop is getting its first use!
Have a 2011 astra j and the roof rails/bars are totally peeling they look awful and need replaced does anyone know where I could buy some and if they are easy to take off & replace? I
