Posted by: Iaintruten - 26:th-Oct-2017, 20:42:36 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (5)

Does anyone know the best place to source an astra mk6 bumper are the aftermarket ones any good? does anyone also know if a new one from the dealer is expensive as the clips on my rear bumper are away and also split.

  Angel Eyes Blinking Help
Posted by: sheppy1 - 26:th-Oct-2017, 16:31:26 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (9)

Hey guys and gals

Having an issue here with some angel eyes that I've had fitted to my headlights alongside some HIDs. The issue is an odd one and has both me and @rusty2009 stumped!

Anyway, issue is that after turning the engine on, the passenger side angel eye will work fine for about 10 secs but then rhythmicly starts blinking as seen in the below video:

https://youtu.be/0Ta5a-bX3GE

The driver side works fine however. Kind of ruling our a faulty light and wiring due to just how rhythmic the blinking is... Sort of seems scheduled and patten like.

Anyway, driver aide works fine as you can see.

Anyone any clue as to what this could be?

Oh and to add to the weirdness, when the light blinks, it doesn't actually go off... It's still lit up, just not as bright.

Cheers

  What dashcam?
Posted by: Lammydave - 24:th-Oct-2017, 18:03:43 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (8)

On my Vectra, my dashcam sat nicely behind the rear view mirror...

Can't do that on the j as the sensors take up a huge space...

So, who's using what dashcam and where have you located it?

  Winter tyres?
Posted by: bigsadie - 23:rd-Oct-2017, 20:13:35 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (3)

Hello All.
Quick question. Please. My 2013 gtc Sri 2.0 cdti currently has uniroyal rainsport 3 235/50/18. I was wondering if anyone could suggest winter tyres for this size or even all year tyres. I live in Scotland and get a lot of frost and snow. Only had this car since March so not sure how it handles in winter. My Vectra wouldn't even leave the driveway in the snow. Any advice appreciated. Cheers and thanks.

Ok first things first.
This is my Opel Astra J 2011. 1.4 140HP Cosmo
Car is in stock condition.

Later I added few things I think I need.

Anti theft wheel screw.
I ordered black one to fit the rest of the screws.

Stainless steel registration plate frames

Hi quality FM transmitter with handsfree
Nulaxy KM20

Game of thrones keyring

Sport pedals from Ali Express
They are really good for 10$

Hi quality car dashcam
Ddpai M6 plus with oem power aupply and 128gb Kingston micro sd.
Really good camera with GPS and WiFi for file transfer to cell phone.

Changed cabin and air filters

Old vs new

Engine bay cleaned
Before and after

I started interior LED conversion to white

Next thing will be Hedlight switch.
As I can see there is no tutorial for it.
So I will make one

Ohhh yes
I debaged rear windshield and take off few stickers from front one.
I also removed big sticker from rear bumper.

For now that's it

  Choosing your own repairer
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 23:rd-Oct-2017, 12:42:50 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - Replies (3)

Choosing your own repairer.

Hi,

I was contacted recently by one of the clubs we work with. They were concerned about the issue of 'approved repairers' and they wanted to know what our insurer partners' stance would be.

Clearly, most car club members wouldn't want just anyone repairing their pride & joy - you probably have a preferred bodyshop in mind already as you're reading this. And this is where the issue lies.

If you have an accident and want to use your preferred bodyshop over the insurer's approved repairer, can you do it without penalty?

We've heard that some insurers make it difficult by doubling the excess or not using genuine OEM parts. That's not what you want!

I checked with our main insurers and they are very accommodating. They recognise that car enthusiasts like you will be more interested in who the repairer is and whether any parts are pattern or genuine.

So I'm pleased to confirm that you are able to request that your preferred bodyshop is used. Where there's no reason not to use them i.e. they are not majorly uncompetitive, the insurers on our panel will be happy to accommodate your request.

There will be NO increased excess and, wherever possible, the use of genuine parts will be approved.

The only slight downside when you choose your own garage is that the insurers can't control whether your repairer has a courtesy car available. But I guess for many of you your club car is not your main vehicle and if that is a problem it's still possible they will have one available for you - it just can't be guaranteed by your insurer.

If you like the sound of having the freedom to choose your own repairer please call us for your car insurance quote on 0800 917 2274.

And don't forget, if you request your quote before 30/11 you'll be in with a chance to WIN a £250 AMAZON VOUCHER in time for Christmas, courtesy of the Chris Knott 'Awesome Autumn' Prize Draw.

best,
Nick
