Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
After some advice please if anyone has encountered this issue before. I have bought a 2010 Astra J 1.4 VVT ( A14XER engine if it helps ). It overheated and the previous owner wanted rid so I bought it to try and get my nephew away from his ipad and experience some spannering! I didn't pay much for it as worst case I thought then we could just put a new engine in if it's really knackered.
So the experience so far.... cranks over fast and compression test shows no compression at all in any cylinder. Not a good thing I know. I had anticipated warped head, blown head gasket etc with the overheating issue it had but i've never come across any engine with no compression unless the timing was out ( jumped belt etc ). So today had a look at the chain which looks quite good and tight so can't see how that would have jumped but then came across something new to me. The VVT solenoid on the exhaust cam was very loose. It is missing a bolt and as such was not secured properly. I have never worked on any VVT engine before so not sure how much this would effect anything?
Anyone had any experience with these engines and zero compression please? Ultimately the car was very cheap so unless there is something glaring that I am missing the engine will be stripped down soon as we have nothing to loose and only education to learn :
I should add....there are no bad noises on cranking.
I was wondering if anyone has had a similar situation or know anything that could help with my 1.4 petrol 2013 Astra GTC.
recently I had the Service ESP message come up on the dash and took it to the local friend to be read.
The following codes came up:
U0125-00
C0196-71
He isn't sure what the problem may be and I don't want to take it to the garage and they scam me an extortionate amount to fix.
My high beam '3rd' brake light also stopped working around the same time.
Hi guys I have a Astra 2.0 cdti 14 plate and recently it has started making a lot of noise when completely cold on startup but only then. After it’s been started it doesn’t do it at all. I’ve had cam belt don’t and water pump done when I bought the car 6months. Not sure if it’s chain or belt on these and if the tensioner could be at fault or possibly dual mass maybe ?? Any ideas thanks
Paul
If you follow me on instagram @thewhiteastra you will see I put on the full VXR Aero bodykit on my GTC.
The GTC had a single exit exhaust on the passenger side.
The VXR exhaust has 2 built in exhaust tips passenger and drivers side.
I had to cut the tip off my single exhaust to get the bumper on as the VXR sits lower inc diffuser.
So basically the single exhaust pipe doesn't line up to the passenger side VXR exhaust tip (sits more towards the middle of the car) as the tips are far right and far left.
My question is, does anyone know of a place who sells backbox deletes for a 2.0 cdti which goto a twin exit to fit the VXR bumper before I just get a custom one made.
Picture attached is not my car but same back bumper etc
new here and to Astra’s apologies for lengthy post,
I have 2013 Astra J 1.7cdti..
came to me as non runner and someone had attempted to remove injector 3but they unscrewed the top didn’t even take the rocker cover off! Anyway new injector fitted, Everything seems fine it fires up runs ok for a second or 2 but as per title there is NO throttle response. After it does clock sweep it starts to misfire and die. Then struggled to start cranking for 10seconds then same again after it starts.
I HAVENT coded the replacement injector as I’ve read mixed information hence I’m here.
I have Delphi tool, not a complete amateur either, I’m competent and will give anything who with relevant guidance.
in the video above this is every first cold start, then it dies everytime after clock sweep, you can here it running lumpy and a "ticking noise" i think its a split in the belt. its had a hard life!
any info you guys can give me would be f**king awesome!
Hi, I have an astra j 2013 1.7 cdti 110 hp A17DTE and as soon as the weather has cooled it shows me that the DPF is full and to continue driving. What could be the reasons why the car makes so many regenerations if for example today I drove 1000 km on the highway and everything was ok and tomorrow morning when I start the car I get a warning with DPF on board. Any opinion is highly appreciated.
