Ooooo I do like those!!! Ha. Bit too much going on though for me...I like to see the highlights from the ambient lighting and those other LEDs sort of drown them out

Good tut tucpal, I like the way you've wired it up but I was thinking of wiring it up to the headlights so that when they're on, the foot wells come on as well. Is there already a tut on that?

Any idea which wires they are? And a pic of possible, electrics isn't my forte
Reply
#63
just wire it up to the headlight switch like in this how to
but you will be using footwell lights instead

To add rear footwell lights can I just run an extra wire from front footwell lights to the rear? Also is there a particular spot to place them that's best?

I did mine that way mate, I stuck them under the seats in between to vents using Velcro, will grab a pic later.

Just ordered some of the single strip adhesive backed LEDs that @tucpal recommended for the rear door pockets. Think the big square ones recommended here are too bright for my car. Went for white too to keep up with the red and white interior lights I already have. Can't wait to fit them!

if you have a look in my progress thread your see the red in the front I've not put red under the seats as I was going for a red and blue theme.

Given that I'm considering wiring these up so that they're on with the headlights, will they be too bright at night?

No not really mate. I still don't recommend having them on all the time they get very hot.

I'm forever having to put new 3m tape on the passenger footwell light and that's after having the door open for 5mins.

Also I would recommend you replace the wire for a thicker wire.

Hmm I might consider some strips in that case then. Less bright and won't get as hot, and like you said, I can replace the wires in the strip.

Ah well I've ordered some from China, pre cut and pre wired, I'll probably just need to extend the wires. Will let you know when I've done it and I'll grab some pics too

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just a side question, where did you run the wires to the back ones? Through the centre console or along the sides of the the car?

Pics are a must.

I did run them via the centre console but when I took the seats and centre console out to fit the amp I ran them under the carpet.

Sooooo I failed at life with this today! Hahaha. I took everything out (glove box etc.) which is now starting to take its toll on the car as I've broke more than 1 clip on every god damn panel in that side of the car! And then could juist barely see the looms I needed to splice into...it was securely tucked behind the fuse box and didn't wanna budge! I don't wanna yank on it and break something and then the sun went down and I gave up :(

Yeah I was gonna go off the courtesy light but then I'd have to rewire my LED strip as I've already wired and soldered it up now ready for the short trip it would have needed from under the glove box and to the footwell. Will try this weekend anyway

I'm not impressed at all with the red footwell lights I've received...

They're very hard to see, I know it's daytime but my blue LEDs were very visible and looked great, these well I can't hardly notice them at all...
