Information Regarding Lowering My Astra J
Posted by: SAMW98SO - 6:th-Apr-2020, 17:53:33 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (11)

Hi there, I can see that there are other threads regarding this matter but I can't seem to find the exact information I'm after. I have a 2011 Astra J 1.7 CDTI and I want to lower it, so I have been looking at Eibach springs as I don't want to go for cheap coilovers. Ideally I'm aiming for a drop of at least 30mm all round as you know the arch gap is pretty big as standard. I have recently put 18" VXR alloys onto the car also. Can anyone provide me some clearer and more up to date information about this. Thanks.

Easter opening hours at Chris Knott
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 6:th-Apr-2020, 17:09:33 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - No Replies

For the first time ever, Chris Knott will be OPEN over Easter Bank Holiday weekend because we want to maximise our usefulness to members at this time - especially those who are key workers and who haven't had a chance to breathe let alone sort out their car insurance yet.

To ensure you can get hold of us when you need to - whether that's for a quote or to discuss your existing cover - we'll be open as follows...

Good Friday: 9am-4pm
Saturday: 9am–8pm
Bank Holiday Monday: 9am-4pm

Remember too that if you request a quote before 30 June you'll automatically be in our draw to WIN £500 worth of British Motorsport tickets of your choice, valid for any time over the next 3 race seasons (something to look forward to when Coronavirus is over).

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274 (please mention this forum when you call so we can quote you on our special clubs and enthusiasts facility).

Or request a call back online at either the Chris Knott Quote Form or via our web widget, or on social media or via PM.

best,
Nick

"Just sorted my insurance out with Chris Knott, easy to deal with and was cheaper than my cheapest quote. Cheers." jollyjoiner, BMW Z4-forum

"Best cover ever had and very cheap. First class." Ian Milne, Volvo Enthusiasts Club

"Again this year I renewed with Chris Knott. My renewal wasn't bad but a quick check online I could, for the first time in years, get it cheaper elsewhere. Quick call/email to CK they beat the cost and kept my business. Can't fault the service at all again and I am happy with that." Kev_mk3, Astra Mk3 Owners Club

  Is Dexos 2 oil necessary
Posted by: benawhile - 1:st-Apr-2020, 19:36:48 - Forum: Request for information - Replies (5)

One of our local garages has a reputation as the safest MOT inspection garage in town and I am reluctant to change it. However they do not use Dexos 2, they use C3 fully synthetic.
I only do 10,000 per year these days but I am happy to do an annual oil change is enough for me, although the service manual says that a Dexos 2 service interval is 2 years.

To confuse things further the local Vauxhall dealer service centre recommend a yearly, not 2 yearly, service even for Dexos 2, and also informed me that Dexos 2 is fully synthetic. All other info I can find says it is semi synthetic.

COVID-19: Chris Knott EXTENDS OPENING HOURS to help customers

Hi,

We recognise that work and home patterns are disrupted at the moment for many people. So we're extending our opening hours to make sure you can get in touch with us when you need to.

With immediate effect we're OPEN Monday-Saturday, 9am-8pm - an extra 23 hours.

If your renewal is due in the coming weeks don't go online and use a faceless website. Give us a call and speak to a human being who cares about the needs of car club members and enthusiasts.

Call us for a quote or to discuss your existing CK policy on 0800 917 2274 and we'll be happy to help.

best,
Nick

Smile Changed my wheels - what you think?
Posted by: Vx-Mad-G - 23:rd-Mar-2020, 09:36:52 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (8)

So, a few weeks, maybe a coupe of months, ago I posted THIS message about a set of wheels I bought.

You guys advised they were off an Astra Bi-Turbo.

I really liked the look of these and they were practically mint. So I fancied a change so decided to upgrade.

My car is an Elite, I never every liked the original wheels anyway, so last year I changed them to the SRI Facelift Turbine style wheels.

But now that these have come across, I really like them. These are also slightly bigger, 18" so fill the arches really nice.

Whats your thoughts?

Pictures are after giving the car a proper clean yesterday.

Thanks.

Astra J 2011 1.7Cdti Juddering in higher gears
Posted by: Mark72 - 21:st-Mar-2020, 23:32:37 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (6)

Hi all,

After a previous post about intermittent lack of power, and having replaced the EGR valve with a brand new one, another fault or previous one now getting worse.
In gears 4-6 if the revs are below 1500 rpm there is a pronounced juddering from the engine at any throttle input until about 1800 rpm but it’s more pronounced in 5th and 6th. I’ve physically checked the turbo and it’s free with no excess play, the vacuum pipes are all whole as far as I can tell, the swirl flap actuator is free and I have seen it moving but only when shutting the engine down. No fault codes found using code reader. I’ve a feeling it could be a vacuum operated type fault controlling turbo boost. Looking for some help from anyone who has experienced this type of fault previously.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Ps don’t have any diagnostic gear other than a basic engine code reader any recommendations for an adequate piece of kit would be helpful.

Cheers

Mark
