Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
Hope your all well and keeping busy with your Astra's, I know I am.
I'm here looking for info on the crankcase ventilation of my GTC. I have serious a vacuum in my crankcase/head causing bad whining or squealing when the car is warm.
Its definitely the vacuum causing the squealing as when I remove the dipstick or oil cap it stops dead.
I'm thinking a PCV valve is causing this but im unsure on how the system works on these cars.
On the camshaft cover is a pipe going to the turbo intake (PCV I presume). The crankcase vacuum is still there when disconnected from the intake so it's not this PCV.
There must be another PCV on the inlet manifold past the throttle body, does anyone have any information on the vacuum system?
I thought maybe the auxiliary vacuum pump on the cam shaft but its not that when isolated either.
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks guys!

im new to the forums, was just wondering what i might have done wrong with wiring up my dash cam to green and white wire before it gets to back of rear fuse box.
seems its knocked out the parking sensors(getting the service parking assist warning on dash)and the tpms is not working, ive checked the fuse for parking sensors and its still fine plus theres a 12 volt supply to it also.
Hoping someone can shed some light on this. I have seen a cat back exhaust system for a gtc 1.6 turbo. Now my car is a 5 door 1.6 turbo so would it fit on my car as I cant find a system for it. Looks the same in the pictures but not sure. Maybe someone knows if the standard exhaust systems are the same part number?
Not long ago i updated my NAVI 600 to 2019 maps, all appeared fine for weeks. Then i had to pop the battery out as it went flat in all this CV business, could not charge in the car as i have to park a way away.
Now im all back in and running, i have noticed i have no sat nav voice, everything else appears fine.
Ive tried a factory reset, and even pulling the fuse and restarting, and nothing.
I have been doing some hunting around for a HID kit for my Astra GTC. Seems like most the information is around on the forum in various threads over the years but nothing that makes it 100% clear (at least to me).
Am I right in saying the following?
1. Astra GTC have the correct headlight units as standard (projectors) to allow legal installation of HID's?
2. You should get the 35w HID kit otherwise there may be MOT issues?
3. The bulbs you need are HIR2 (9012) and NOT H7's.
4. Installation requires removal of the bumper / atleast removal of the headlights?
And finally a couple of questions I am not 100% sure on?
5. Other than kits from HID Direct (who seem totally out of stock), what kits have been tried and tested on Astra GTC's to work faultlessly and not cause Canbus errors?
6. Ever heard of the stealth kit? Stealth Kit (Autobulbs direct)
7. What colour output is most common / not likely to get me flashed at every 5 seconds?
