Posted by: Hummelshøj - 23:rd-Sep-2017, 12:54:45 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (7)

Does anyone know how much is needed for retrofitting heated steeringwheel.

Obviously the heated steering and another heatercontrol with button for heated steeringwheel.

Does it need coding and wires.

I have a 2012 GTC 2.0cdti

  Help! Plastic underneath bumper
Posted by: mw2299 - 23:rd-Sep-2017, 10:40:47 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (2)

The plastic thing underneath the front bumper - what is it for and can it be either removed and not cause any issues or be easily replaced?

I bought it with the bit in the middle not being right:

And now I've noticed on the passenger side it looks like it's coming away:

Any help appreciated as always.

Greetings from Ireland   Just traded in my Jaguar X-type for a 2012 Opel Astra 1.3CDTi. Tax/Insurance here is extortionate so a wee run about is all I needed. Going from a 2 litre to a 1.3 was a big step and there's a power difference but it's not as bad as I thought.
Needing some Alloys now, probably stick with 16" s as the roads here in Co. Donegal are erm.......BAD!!!
Also looking to add a nice multimedia system in the space above the current stereo which seems to be a common upgrade. Currently have the CD300, any tips on what y'all fitted would be a good starting point for me . Don't have/need steering wheel controls, but I would like the Google maps ability as it's what I'm used to with navi. on the Android galaxy phone.
Here she is on one of those RARE sunny days!!!

I'll no doubt be picking the brains of some members over the course of my Astra ownership

A couple of years ago my mechanic mentioned that if the DPF gets blocked it could be damaging . I was about to make 450mile trip south so , I decided to put some Forte DPF cleaner in the tank . A couple of days of town driving later and for the first time I got the DPF warning light on Continue Driving . After a few miles down the motorway , warning off. .

However , after that it would come on now and again . About 5 months ago I got the Mandatory warning to drive and then it cleared after about 15 miles . A few weeks later the standard warning which I cleared without a cleaner being used and then two weeks later I had to do the same again . I had the Mandatory request to drive once more before getting rid of the car a few days ago. .

Got a Siggy now . .

Did the cleaner do any good at all. .

Can anyone help me?

Is some difference for astra j and GTC in front wiper?

  CD500 problem
Posted by: AlanMac - 21:st-Sep-2017, 09:05:09 - Forum: ICE - Replies (3)

Driving along this morning and somehow all the CD500 controls stopped working. Worked fine since I got the car in July and AOK today for the half hour before.
I cannot change the following with either the CD500 buttons or wheels or the steering wheel controls.

* volume
* station
* turn on NAVI
* Phone
* anything to do with the infotainment system.

If I push the on/off wheel/top button it does not turn of the system as you would expect.
The only way to turn off is to remove the key.

Really weird, are there any fuses that could cause this?  The radio can be turned on again and it plays and shows the last station selected.

Any pointers?

So, I bought my Astra 1.3 CDTI Exclusiv last month.

It had steel wheels, a towbar attached and no modifications whatsoever! It's a small engine which is good for someone of my age who's insurance is sky high.

Here's a picture of it when it was still at the dealership:

Then, I had my three rear windows blacked out and fitted my new plates:

Then today, the thing I've been looking forward to more than anything, is fitting some alloys:

I've also got some tailored car mats inside and plan to have the courtesy lights changed to LEDs as well as get the steering wheel refurbished.

Happy with it so far - also like the fact that this 'poverty spec' Astra doesn't have the chrome trim around the windows and elsewhere. Still have the usual gimmicks like front & rear parking sensors and air conditioning.
