  Head repair weird air noise?
Posted by: trevorgetty@aol.com - 27:th-Mar-2019, 02:36:36 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (5)

So my friend cooked his gtc 1.6 turbo and ive just stripped it got head skimmed and rebuilt with new gaskets.

The engine starts but soon after it starts to run a bit lumpy. I can rev is but hear a slight miss.

Now i am not sure why this air hole is in the rocker cover but i can clearly hear it sucking air in. And if i put my finger over it it sucks it in.
Can u tell me if this is normal please?.

I have included a picture of the vent and a video for reference. If u have any clues as to maybe i have some one way valve blocked from the mayo deposits from the hgf maybe?
I am not sure if the air and rough idle are related but any help is appreciated.
Ideas please. Thanks. T

Small addition to above. So if i remove the oil filler or the dipstick they both are under vacumn? Seems something is blocked i assume to create this vacumn. I am assuming the head is sealed or it would be blowing out not in. I cant see any water drop or further oil mixing with water but it is early days.

So i have removed the crankcase breather pipe. It is sucking like mad for some reason. If i remove it its sucking more air down this pipe than the air intake lol. Is there a one way valve like a pcv? I have read its meant to have a slight suck to remove gases and stop positive pressure spreading the gases out the filler cap or shooting the dipstick out but this is really strong.

Posted by: irishastraowner - 26:th-Mar-2019, 15:59:36 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC Common Problems - Replies (5)

When driving last night i got the "electronic stability control & traction system" symbol when is staying constant.

Today it appeared again AND a flashing "malfunction indicator light" also appeared. The cars power was restricted.

Its a 2012 1.4 petrol. The car is misfiring a small bit.

Can anyone advise the problem?

Hi all,

I'm a recent owner of a 2016 GTC 1.6T LE - in red. Love the car and have been a Vx fan for years, having worked my way up from a Manta, through Carltons, Cavaliers and Omegas, and a Zafira at one point up to this GTC. I've had a couple of older GTCs in the past and haven't found much else comes close for the price!

I love the look of them, and the LE is well equipped, not keen on the fuel economy or the price of the 20" tyres, but I knew this wasn't a budget shopping car! Gearchange is a bit clonky sometimes as well, but I thought the same about my older Vectra 2.0 turbo so I guess its business as usual. I know the M32 box has a terrible reputation but I've got a bit of warranty on this car!

Auto Dim rear view Mirror (Meriva B)
Posted by: TubaMagna8 - 24:th-Mar-2019, 23:23:53 - Forum: Small cars Agila, Merivia, Viva, Adam & Corsa - No Replies

Bought myself an Astra J Elite Mirror with the auto dim function, This is to fit on the Meriva B. Just doing my research so i can connect it properly to the BCM to get the signal for when its in reverse.

It came with a rain & light sensor, but from another user on here It needs to have the SD Code on it :( so might try and sell the sensor. Would like to fit auto lights and the rain sensing wiper thing.

Will a mk6 VXR spoiler fit my GTC?

Hey guys, I was looking to get a VXR spoiler for my 3 door Mk6 GTC but I'm not 100% sure it'll fit. I was wondering if anyone knows for sure?
This is the one I've looked at specifically

All Speaker Bluetooth Audo, DAB & Telephone?
Posted by: oovavoo - 23:rd-Mar-2019, 23:29:13 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (11)

Hi all,

I am a new owner of a 2013 (63) Astra J Elite. Now, the issue has come already that the car lacks anything bluetooth and also DAB. Now, DAB i can live without, but the bluetooth telephone / audio i cannot. FM just does not cut it for me.

What I am trying to achieve is this:

Telephone calls over bluetooth (using steering wheel controls)
Bluetooth Audio - iTunes Music subscription
DAB+ for Kisstory mostly.

I have got rear sensors but i have been looking at a couple of products to try and achieve this, but not really sure if it will all work, or what other options there were?

Part 1 - AutoDab CTDAB-VX2 - https://www.bassjunkies.com/ctdab-vx2.html
This will give me national DAB+ without any problem and all the stations i am answer, which is great.

Part 2 - RetroFit Ray Smith Bluetooth for CD400 - https://www.raysmith.co.uk/vauxhall-oem-bluetooth
This will give me the phone facility and steering wheel controls, but ONLY front speakers for A2DP, which is poor considering I want full car audio.

What can i do / fit / get fitted which will give me DAB and Phone and BT Audio across the whole car. I appreciate Phone will most likely be front 2 speakers and thats fine, but I need help please if anyone can assist???

Thanks,
Sean

Hi everyone. Just bought a GTC SRI 2.0 auto for my wife, test drove it for two days and I am well impressed with the car. I am starting to get jealous and afraid she won't let me drive it too often

It has 87000 miles on the clock and I created a list of jobs to start from.

I was wondering if you guys would be so kind to share your recommendations in terms of garages and makes I should use for parts/oil/tyres.

1) Timing belt with water pump I suppose. Would you replace thermostat as well?

2) Front break pads

3) Oil and air/fuel filters replacement

4) two tyres 235/50/18

5) Auto transmission fluid or is it too early?

6) LED bulbs

7) Do you know if 17" wheels would fit? Friend has one four months old 225/55/17 winter tyres for sale I am considering buying for next season.

You advise would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Michael

  Tyre Pressure Warning Niggle
Posted by: phlyer - 21:st-Mar-2019, 13:29:47 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (4)

Im after some guidance.

Front OS got a flat this morning.  When I replaced the wheel  and started her up to come home the dash pressure warning display is lit, but the pressure display screen is showing the front NS flat not the OS.  The thing is up on the jack so theres no way you can misread it....

Anyone know how this thing works?

  Auto-reverse mirror positions

Hi all,

I'm looking at if/how to add in auto-adjustment to the side mirrors whenever the vehicle is put in reverse to point further towards the ground (well, any user preset position recorded.)

Does anyone know the types of motor used in the mirrors already? Need to figure out if I need to add input sensors, or if the motor is a step-control and I can read the step info instead?
