Winning quotes and a November prize draw
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 16:th-Nov-2020, 18:04:17 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - No Replies

IS YOUR CAR INSURANCE DUE IN NOV/DEC?

This forum's insurance partner (Chris Knott) exists to help members like you to find a better car insurance deal.

As we work predominantly with car club members and enthusiasts our insurer partners allow us to go further than perhaps a computer-generated rate would allow. By all means get your comparison site quote if you must but come to us afterwards and we'll be aiming to use that quote as the ceiling not the floor.

In this run up to Christmas, you could also WIN a £50 Amazon Voucher to help with your shopping.

https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/news/car-in...mber-2020/

Simply request a quote for a car we don't yet insure, during November, to gain automatic entry in this one month only prize draw.

GET A CAR QUOTE ONLINE:
https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/CarQuote/?ref=nov2

QUOTELINE: 0800 917 2274

As we're feeling generous, you'll also be eligible for the draw if you renew an existing CK car policy with us this month.

best,
Nick

Opening Hours: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm.

came as standard with CD500 Nav, DAB, Bluetooth and front and rear parking sensors in what I think is a nice colour.

have upgraded the Nav to a Navi900 and DAB+ and added reverse camera

next step was auto wipers and lights which is now complete although im not happy with the gel pad as its got some bubbles.

just awaiting led and i will do DPF light plus have some lights for doing footwell coming.

as I'm out of work at the moment that's where its stopping.......for now

the next stage after funds rebuilt up is rear electric windows

  Astra BiTurbo solenoid buzzing again....
Posted by: eatmybogbrush - 13:th-Nov-2020, 16:35:45 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (2)

Oh **** me these bloody turbo solenoid has gone again, replaced both only 18months ago and only done 14.000 miles, what a joke these are.

Will any fit from another make pref not GM they are ****, I don't get it my Astra H 2009 1.9 has never been replaced and done 110.000 miles.....actually will that fit?

I don't really understand how they work, are they specific to the make of car or would they work on any car if the wiring fits?
Any ideas I would appreciate it as I'm not paying £50 every 18months.

Hi all,
Just introducing myself, recently purchased an Astra J SRi 2015 1.4T and hopefully picking it up today or tomorrow, getting a fresh mot and service before I collect it. Noticed this forum has a lot of very detailed information hoping I'd become a regular user here. Been looking at any common faults or things to look out for with this particular model. Any suggestions on what I should look out for when I pick it up?

  Upgrading the CD400
Posted by: sadiqr10 - 11:th-Nov-2020, 04:58:09 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - No Replies

Hi, apologies in advance if this topic has been discussed before. Few months back I purchased an Astra GTC 2012 which came with the standard CD400 with what I believe has no Bluetooth functionality. I am ready to explore my options on to whether it is possible to upgrade the current CD400 to one with Bluetooth functionality, or to purchase an android head unit. However, I’m not really confident with which android system to buy and which ones will be compatible fully with my car (keeping the steering wheel controls etc) and I need further guidance if anyone can help.

Thank you?

  Insignia DVD800 retrofit
Posted by: Paul2012 - 5:th-Nov-2020, 04:09:31 - Forum: Medium cars Astra, Cascada, Vectra, Monaro & Insignia - Replies (4)

Just completed refitting a DVD800 into my 2010 Insignia.

But have problem with programming. I do have a genuine  GM MDI. Although under SPS programming, there is no option to change VIN number on DVD800 ?
Only option available is programming, which fails with "E2700 : Hardware Mismatch No Programming Possible".

Anyone has any solution to for this ?

2x new offers from insurance partner Chris Knott
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 4:th-Nov-2020, 13:08:52 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - No Replies

The first lockdown proved that our systems coped very well with having staff working from home. In fact, customer feedback suggested you didn't even notice any difference in service, which is great. As we move into this second national lockdown from Thursday we just want to assure you that we're ready and it is still BUSINESS AS USUAL.

In fact, we're announcing TWO NEW OFFERS as we approach the end of the year...

DISCOUNTED BREAKDOWN COVER FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR

  Heated mirrors not working
Posted by: Vivid Victor - 4:th-Nov-2020, 10:09:27 - Forum: Electrical - Replies (2)

2010 Opel Astra J A16XER.
Heated rear window works fine, the mirrors don't at all.
I checked fuse F6 in the engine bay and it is okay.
I checked the heater resistance and both sides are about 10.5 Ohm.
I measured voltage between the positive terminal on the battery and both the fuse and the both terminals on the mirror and every time I measured battery voltage. Testing to the negative battery terminal yields 0 V, which suggest that there is ground potential on the leads and something isn't switching to close the circuit.
I couldn't find any schematics or diagrams and I don't know what to check next.

  Easy removal of glowplugs?
Posted by: Euroshopper - 3:rd-Nov-2020, 12:23:43 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (1)

One of my glow plugs is defect, so they need to be changed. I have a A13DTE engine and there is a step by step guide here on how to change them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onMmIltMokQ&t=637s

However this is quit intricate process by removing turbo and DSP, one or two comments on this video claims that all glow plugs can be removed by using a glow plug removal socket set and only removing the oil feeder and heatshield.
Like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282975441040

Have someone done this before and can confirm this is possible? Would be way easier to just buy such a set and remove them without to much trouble.

Cheers!
