Client Feedback from recent months

"Today I have reinsured my GT86 and have chosen to use Chris Knott as advertised in the forum. Knowing that it was due in March, I waited for my renewal notice to arrive, then called both CKI and ****. CKI were very fast with their quote and it instantly beat my renewal." Blackie_X, GT86/BRZ Owners Club

"I use Chris Knott for my supercharged V8 400bhp Jag and pay less than your S*** quote and I live in Birmingham." payno, BimmerForums

"A happy customer. I recently contacted Chris Knott for the first time. The premium quoted was £200 less than what my existing insurer wanted. I had both cars insured with the existing company on separate policies, so there was no reward for loyalty. I went ahead and insured the Z4 through Chris Knott. The process was handled by a lady called Kim who was pleasant and relaxed throughout and did not use hard sell tactics. Everything was processed promptly before my existing policy expired. I am a satisfied customer." oldgit, Z4 Forum

"I'm into my 2nd year with them and have no complaints." Mr Tidy, Z4 Forum

  Interior Mirror Upgrade
Posted by: phil67 - 21:st-Oct-2018, 20:25:29 - Forum: Request for information - Replies (4)

Hi Everyone

As ive only got the GTC on a sport, its a bit basic on some of the toys.

What I was wondering if the wiring is hidden up in the headlining for me to upgrade the very standard mirror to one of the dipping models / auto wipers?

And if anyone is selling one with the housing, then please let me know before I go to ebay. If wiring is not present, what do I need to get it sorted, I will also need to get it switched on for the wiper function no doubt, can that be done with out having the car pass as not got round to getting that sorted.

Cheers

  2.0 CDTi Gearstick Centering
Posted by: Robbyboi86 - 20:th-Oct-2018, 23:46:44 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (3)

Hi guys new to the forum having an issue with my astra I purchased today.

When changing gears when I go from 2nd to 3rd the stick doesn't go back to center it stays over to the left and also 6th to 4th I have to manually pull it over.

Has anyone else had this issue? When in gear the car is perfect.

While in neutral if I move stick left between 1str and 2nd the stick just stays there.

Astra GTC CD 600 Blutooth will not delete devices
Posted by: harrykelly9 - 19:th-Oct-2018, 19:12:35 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC Common Problems - Replies (2)

Hi,

Just bought a 2015 Astra GTC with the CD600 head unit, the previous owner has filled all 5 device spaces. The unit will not let me delete any, after pressing delete and yes.. the unit just hangs and nothing happens. The unit is 100% fine in all other areas and runs very smooth.  Any idea how to delete these devices so I can pair my phone??

  Water sloshing sound
Posted by: Marc_81 - 19:th-Oct-2018, 09:09:18 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (6)

So I've noticed since I picked my Astra Tourer up at the weekend that I can hear a very occasional noise which sounds like water sloshing about if I pull away a bit quicker than usual. I've had a good google search and think it's probably inside the doors, now I've seen that to rectify this you can remove the rubber grommets at the bottom of the doors and give them a good clean. My question is, would it cause any problems if I left the grommets out altogether, or are they there for a reason? If it's not the doors I also saw that sills could be an issue but is that only on certain cars as I have no idea how water could get in to the sills?

Thanks,

Marc

Hi guys need advice. I have a gtc 2.0 diesel. Car was serviced a couple of weeks ago and got timing belt done too. Car has done 70000 miles and is a 2012. Anyway to cut a long story short, when I left garage warning came up service car soon, rang garage they said turn car off and start again and message should go away, which it did. Driving home from work today service car soon came on again and car immediately stalled. Nursed the car home but I had to go out again., service car soon came on again and car stalled at roundabout. Tried to start car again and nothing, just kept turning over. Left ignition off for 5 minutes and car eventually started. Now engine management light has come on. Anybody any idea what's wrong.

Jolt when releasing brake on autobox
Posted by: Djones55 - 16:th-Oct-2018, 19:54:14 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (3)

Hi, I have a 2012 Astra Elite 2.0 CDTI auto which I've had for a month.

When releasing the brake after holding at traffic lights or stop start traffic etc, the car jumps forward as if it is late in engaging drive again.

It seems to disengage drive slightly when held in D (I notice a slight change in revs and less pressure on the car to move forward), and when releasing the brake to pull away, there's a real jolt as it takes up drive, before I press on the accelerator. If I notice a slight change in revs, I will flick the car in neutral then "D" immediately and it's fine. If I'm VERY VERY light on the brake, it doesn't hold and is fine, but anything mre than featherlight pressure on the brake to hold the car will result in a jolt when releasing the brake.

I can put it in neutral, put the electronic handbrake on then select drive to pull away, but don't want to do that if in stop start traffic.

I have a 3 month warranty with the car so am keen to see if others have had the same problem, as I never had this in my previous VW auto.

Thanks, a great forum by the way.

  Wrench - CH 49375???
Posted by: Steveb19111978 - 16:th-Oct-2018, 13:38:14 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (3)

Just picked up some lowering springs for my Sports Tourer.

Looking through the workshop manual it says I need a specialist wrench (CH 49375) to remove the top nut. Anyone know if you really do need one or can I get away with using a standard spanner/socket set. Thanks.
