  GTC exhaust options
Posted by: johno1412 - 16:th-Oct-2018, 12:50:07 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (1)

My 1.4 GTC is  getting near ready for the exhaust to be replaced. ringing around. it seems that everyone is telling me that its hard to obtain and that Vauxhall dealers are the ones i should try. So, i rang the local dealers and even on my trade club account, it is £498 for a secondary cat back system.

This got me thinking that it may well be as cost effiective to go the route of a a stainless system, something like Scorpion or custom made.
does anyone have any experience of an aftermarket system on their GTC/or Astra J, i am interested in quality of fit and the noise. being of a mature age now, i do not want anything too loud in sound.

Twin exhausts (VXR style) on a GTC SRi
Posted by: SV8Predator - 15:th-Oct-2018, 21:29:57 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (2)

I've had a look but I cannot find this info on the forum.

I'm on my second GTC, I really like the 2.0 diesel model, does everything I need. Went to buy a new one a couple of months ago and was gutted that they don't make the 2.0 diesel any more. So I managed to find an 18 month old one with 7K miles on the clock, in my required yellow colour. Result!

Now to the question:

How do I fit twin rear exhausts, like the VXR? What is required, new rear lower panel, etc?

Anyone done this?

  Auto shifter

Hi all, my gear shifter has broke, the button on the back has come off and a grey plastic piece has come out, is there any way to reattach this? Been to Vauxhall but they want £280 for a new gear shifter.

  Tyres-225/45/17 instead of 225/50/17 ???
Posted by: Vx-Mad-G - 14:th-Oct-2018, 21:23:45 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (5)

Hi all,

I need to change my tyres and thinking of whacking on some winters over the next few months.

Thing is, the 225/50/17 seems such an expensive size.
Can I change it to 225/45/17..?

If so, any impact to the car, drivability, stability, etc?

It's a 2011, 2.0 Diesel 5 door.

Thanks

New owner of Sports Tourer.. a few questions.
Posted by: Marc_81 - 14:th-Oct-2018, 16:58:42 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (8)

Hi all,

Picked up a 64 plate 2.0 CDTI SRI sports tourer this morning and so far so good! I just have a few questions.

I only have 1 key which was a little disappointing, what's the best way to go about getting a spare? Saw a few ads on eBay but wasn't sure who to trust and what to pay.

Second thing I noticed a small cubby hole type thing on the inside of the tailgate that has clips that open.. any idea what it's for??

Lastly I have a few patches on the alloys that are rough almost like the lacquer has been damaged by a cleaning product or something.. is there a fix for this or is it refurb only? It's a shame as otherwise they are in great shape.

I'm sure I'll have more questions but any help much appreciated.

Thanks..

Marc

  Navi650 Map Jumping
Posted by: AndrewCall - 14:th-Oct-2018, 08:31:37 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (16)

Hi all, has anyone else had any issues with the navigation on the Navi650. When driving along it seems to lag behind and follow the wrong roads as if it's lost GPS. It can be fine for miles but then as soon as you get into a town etc. It will completely get thrown off course. Will try a reset by taking a battery terminal off this week.

Has anyone else experienced this or similar before?

Not really a biggie for me as I don't rely on the maps, it's just a handy feature to have and would be nice to have working correctly haha.

Cheers folks

Hi guys, I will soon need to change my tyres on my GTC Biturbo. The size is 245/40/20. Any recommendations for a mid-range summer tyre that won't break the bank?

  Hi from Oxfordshire.

Hi,
I'm from the Oxford area and have just bought a 2011 diesel 2litre SRI.
Looking at putting the bluetooth and usb connector in to make use of the "spare" buttons on the radio and steering wheel. Seems to be (a common thread) plenty of info about on the site so hopefully it won't take long to get sorted.

Change oil soon - can I ignore it for about 1k miles?
Posted by: umognog - 9:th-Oct-2018, 08:47:24 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (4)

Ok, prepping for a trip down to Alton towers leaving tomorrow, and this morning it change oil soon popped up.

I'm about 650 miles round trip, add on 300 for miscellaneous other driving, looking at 1k miles before I can get back and do the oil change (procrastination will be the end of me)

CD400 Plus - what does the “Plus” Add?
Posted by: GordyC - 8:th-Oct-2018, 21:36:30 - Forum: ICE - Replies (9)

Hi folks,

Pretty much what the title says...

I’m about to collect a 2015 SRI GTC next week. It has a CD400 Plus stereo fitted which gives DAB but not Bluetooth.

I’m struggling to find what additional features the Plus model has over the standard CD400 stereo. Even the online user manuals don’t explain any extras.

Do any experts on here know the differences?

Also, I’m looking to add the Bluetooth module (from Ray Smith in Dunbar, Scotland). They also provide OEM parking sensors which SWMBO desperately wants. Looking at their website it’s £430, including painted sensors (where required). Is this reasonable for the parts?

I can fit the BT module myself but the sensors I’d rather have fitted by a professional. What’s a reasonable price?

Thanks for all your help.

Gordy
