That bit you see is about 2mm in length and the bit that is rough is facing out the front window and at the bottom of the window at that!...no one would or could ever see it unless the grill is removed to show people what I did...so why bother!?!? lol. May as well polish my engine bay while I'm at it! ha

This is what you see from the inside and the outside

Hence thay couple of MM hole I made which I didn't file down not really bothering me lol

Not sure if I dreamt this or not but I'm sure someone asked if there was a way to get 64GB SD cards working with this unit as they aren't detected by default... I've worked it out anyway and got one to work with mine... Anyone actually care for the info?

I was gonna ask what kind of SD card is needed for this unit, any special type I should know about?

RE: M072 (S160) Android Head Unit Install/Info - sheppy1 - 25:th-Apr-2016

Any kind you like I was using 32GB Kingston and Samsung cards without issue, when you get a 64GB card it won't be detected by the unit as it's in the exFAT format and not FAT32. To fix that you just need to download FAT32 Formatter from here on your Windows laptop:

http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm

And then click "start" once you've selected the drive letter of your SD card. Job done...64GB cards will now work on the unit too

Still trying to find the time to fit this!

Anyway was just looking at the loom that comes with the unit, it has a box inline which says Envision for 2015? also a plug which says door alarm? just trying to work this out so I know where I'm at when fitting, if anyone can tell me what these are about? my car is a 2012!

Cheers Ronnie

The 2 pin for the speaker plugs into the wiring loom.

It looks like the door alarm wires go to the speaker in the kit

Does anyone know where the green and black wire plug in this pic goes?

Also I see there are 2 mic jacks one on the screen and one on the DVD unit, I guess the bluetooth mic goes to the DVD unit?

Cheers Ronnie

The plug (green/black wire) goes into the spare connector that is left over from the factory screen!

RE: M072 (S160) Android Head Unit Install/Info - JonathanLondon - 1:st-May-2016

Hi.  I've just bought a 14-reg Elite 1.6 auto, and I'm thinking of buying of of these M072 head units.  The information in this thread has been really useful!  At the moment, the CONFIG button on the radio brings up options e.g. "auto lock doors".  How can I change these options once the head unit is swapped?  Do they appear as options in the Android settings menu on the new screen, or does the existing config button bring up the old menu on the new screen?  Thanks.

Thanks!  So does the existing menu superimpose on the new head unit screen, or it it in an Android settings menu?  Just trying to get this clear in my mind.  Ta.

There are a couple of apps which have all the vehicle settings listed. Funny thing is, I didn't realise all the settings were there on the standard unit. It's only when I was playing around with the Android unit that I came across them.

Looks very promising.  I'm just fussing because I'm worried about settings such as "Default fan speed in AUTO mode" - I wouldn't want to have to swap the head unit back, to change the setting!

But many thanks for the photos - much appreciated.

Jonathan.

Mine arrived today, so excited it feels like christmas as a kid haha

Amazed at the amount of cables that came with it but think I have figured out where most of them go without consulting the manual

If you get stuck, look on the back of head unit and you will see each socket it marked A,B,C etc. The look closely on cables and they'll have A,B,C etc.

RE: M072 (S160) Android Head Unit Install/Info - Amir Khezri - 6:th-May-2016

Hi Sheppy,

I thought you could maybe know this problem what I have whit my Android radio. I bought this model:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Android-4-4-Two-Din-Car-DVD-For-Opel-Astra-J-Auto-Radio-RDS-GPS-Navi/32317249594.html

Im trying to replace my CD500 radio unit in my Astra J whit this Android. Normally its a replacement for a CD400 model but the fitting is the same like a CD500 model. After I installed the radio I saw a little problem. My middle console (see picture) did not power up so I was not able to use those buttons. The rest of the functinality was working fine like climate control, park sensor, door detection etc..

I think there must be a little difference in the wiring diagram of a CD400 model comparing whit a CD500 model. I think that it could be the original backplate connector of the screen, there goes one purple wire from the CANBUS to that connector. I saw on the pics from your link that there goes two wires to that connection (green and black).

The mine looks like this:

So is there anyway to power up the middle console whit that Android radio? If there is anyone whit a great idea please let me know otherwise I'm afraid that I need to send it back the.

Kind Regards
Amir Khezri

RE: M072 (S160) Android Head Unit Install/Info - marcus - 8:th-May-2016

Yes that spare plug from the old screen should work so yes there might be a slight difference in the wiring for the cd 500 unit. Not sure what to suggest through.

I don't think so.  It needs a device driver (which they supply for Windows).  I doubt there is a device driver for Android.

Can you maybe more specific about that connection, as far as I know i didn't had any connectors left for that see picture.

I think I'm missing more cable's for that connectors what powers up the console.
I think thats the connector what you mean right? Thats the one what comes from the back of original screen.

I had this problem, one plug from back if screen fits in to that part. I missed it at first but when I looked a second time I realised and it powers the buttons!

Can you maybe more specific about that connection, as far as I know i didn't had any connectors left for that see picture.

I think I'm missing more cable's for that connectors what powers up the console.
I think thats the connector what you mean right? Thats the one what comes from the back of original screen.
The plug that the old screen plugs into is on the main wiring loom.(centre top black plug next to the speaker

Hi Tonto,

Thank for the reply I thought also that it must be there somewere for the middle console. Can you maybe tell me were the green and the black wires go from that connector
(red arrow)? I have the same CANBUS like you only one difference in wiring I guess see pic here below:

Like your can see I have only purple wire going there to my backscreen connector. And on your pic there were one black and one green one. Maybe if I can see how to connect that connector then I will be there and the middle console will power up and then me happy :-).

Which unit is that wiring harness from? It looks almost the same but not quite.
