Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
I've just bought an Astra J '63' plate Limited Edition but I need a front bumper like the one in the pic....anything available please (any colour)?
Cheers
Hi , I am new to the forum and this is my first post .Lot of my searches ended on this forum so i decided to join this forum as it has given me lot of useful information,my car is vauxhall astra 2014 1.7 CDTI ecoflex 125BHP, Thanks to Rusty i was able to do LED light for DPF and would be doing different MODs hopefully without breaking any thing . I want to share a link which i found which i think might be helpful to people which gives lot of information on technical data on vauxhall/Opel engines .It is originally in Polish language but you can use Chrome browser to automatically translate that into English.
I'm in need of a new headlight assembly on the driver's side of my 2013 J Sports Tourer (A16LET engine & standard non-Xenon non-adaptive headlights.)
I'm browsing through listings on eBay etc, however there seems to be a distinction between 'Sport' and 'non-Sport' models when it comes to compatibility.
I'm a bit thrown by this as I'm in Australia where the J was sold under the short-lived Opel brand with no 'Sport' model in the lineup. Can anyone shed a bit of light on what a Sport model is? Is it perhaps referring to 3-door vs. 5-door (as these are obviously a different headlight shape?) Many thanks in advance.
Hi i am looking for a timing kit for my 1.6t a16let astra 2012 j series gtc.
It needs a head gasket change and maybe skim but need the timing tools first.
I see loads on ebay for the j series 1.0 1.2 and 1.4 but not the 1.6turbo.
I have found one lazer kit but says a16xht instead 1.6sidi so might be wrong one. the 40 ebay ones are usually what i use As this is a one time use i dont mind the cheaper kits if i can find them. I have a few cheapers kits and they do fine for non commercial use.
So any help or links appreciated really could do with this asap please thanks as always. T.
Hi,
Just wondered how many folk use seasonal or winter tyres on their cars?
I drive big yellow taxis for a living, I was so impressed with the winter tyres on the boo boo bus a couple of years ago that I sought some new wheels to fit winter shoes for my astra. Bargain find on fleabay £250 for 4 x 17" SRI astra alloys (exact same as on my car anyway) with Michelin cross climates already on and approx 6mm tread left.
The difference last 2 years in the winter was well worth it. As you can imagine we aren't allowed snow days.
I actually found I had more grip in the astra with the cross climates than in the Skoda Scout (4x4 estate thing) with summer tyres on in the frost and snow (as they didn't bother with them last year leading to some squeaky bum moments).
Bought some for the wifes Zafira B last year, she loved them too, ideal for the school runs on dodgy country roads.
Unfortunately she parked it in the side of a van and they don't fit her newer Zaf C with 18" wheels, so I'll be looking again for next winter and have bunged em on fleabay.
I don't use them all year round, reverting back to summer boots (Flaken azenis fk510, which I find great value and perform as well as much pricier rubber) when the weather improves, saves the tread and they are slightly heavier on fuel I think. I bought brackets and bolt em to the garage wall whichever I'm not using.
Interestingly the big yellow taxi service has now opted to run cross climates all year round on their vans and cars in my area.
If you're wondering about it and drive on untreated roads I'd def recommend them. Might keep you away form the big yellow taxi
Afternoon guys. Car broke down on me last week and pushed loads of steam out exhaust. Knew straight away that the head has gone. Was hoping for just a new gasket repairs but was prepared to source a refurbed head if it was cracked. However, its worse. A lot worse. There has been a hole burned through the head between cylinders and on top of that the piston is partially melted and the barrel is scored with molten head metal. The engine is a 1.7cdti 125bhp. The car is worth too much to just scrap it so it looks like i'm needing a new engine. What kind of price would a replacement one cost? Ballpark figure. And also what type of cost is involved in getting it fitted, again a ballpark figure is all i'm looking at. Will any parts need to be programmed into the ECU or anything like that?
Thanks in advance for any answers
