Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
I'm in rather desperate need of ideas! Just before Xmas on a 45-mile return trip, I started to hear the turbo. It wasn't loud, but clearly there unlike normal. At Xmas, we set of on a journey with our fingers crossed, but about 35 miles down the M74, going up an uphill stretch, the turbo gave up completely. We struggled on a bit further, but were soon leaving a smoke trail, and pulled off to get recovered. The car's been in getting the turbo replaced, but the garage doing the work (they're recommended fitters for The Turbo Guy in Glasgow) cannot figure out what's causing a continuing major problem. What appears to be happening is that as the engine warms up,a large amount of oil is getting into the engine, mainly to cylinder no 4, then getting out down the exhaust. They found that the DPF had become blocked, which may have happened with the turbo failure, as the car was running fine until it failed. The DPF has been cleaned, the replacement turbo has been thoroughly checked out, and the other oil feed and drain pipes replaced or cleaned.
The garage guys are running out of ideas, and are not prepared to dismantle the engine themselves to investigate any further.
Any experience of this failure anyone? All suggestions welcome!!
Just wondered if someone can tell me how to change the sidelights/DRL on the GTC, noted on the J 5 door that you need to remove few bits to get access, but understand on GTC you can just unscrew if you have ickle hands.
Plastic under carriage/skid pan(maybe?) had drooped down. Positioned under the engine (See pics)
The two passenger side screws have come loose, and by the pics they are still in the plastics
I've got under the car and attempted to screw them back in but they only go half a turn, and with a bang of my fist on the plastic they pop out again. So I'm assuming its the thread that's gone?
Whats my best play here. New screws? If someone could advise on what to do, would be much appreciated! See below for pics, apologies for shocking photography
Im just in process of fitting a Towbar (non Vauxhall) to Astra J Hatch 2013 and could do with some advice on the wiring. I have a bypass relay to avoid problems with cars electrics which states it needs a permanent live feed that is not feeding anything else. Is there a connection in the boot area I can use to avoid dragging everything back to front of the care that is suitable?
I believe there maybe a socket in the rear just for a trailer so could that be used and if so where is it.
I was wondering if anyone can provide me with the DVD800 Navi and the HVAC single zone control panel pinouts and perhaps an electrical wiring schematic.
As far as I can tell from searching online, the whole system consists of:
The actual DVD800 radio (part no. 13315944). I assume the only two round plugs are coax for the radio and GPS antennae but correct me if I'm wrong. What about the rest?
The head unit display (part no. 13223793). Do all the connections go to the radio or does it connect to the car as well?
The HVAC panel (part no. 13273095), the radio button panel (part no. 13273256) and the panel that has the ESP and the parking assist buttons. They can all be seen in this image in the lower left. There are a total of 4 connectors, one at the bottom coming out of the climate panel and three inline connectors at the top. Again, do they all connect to the radio and the radio relays the info to the rest of the vehicle or does the HVAC panel, for example, connect directly to the vehicle's HVAC control module or the BCM.
The bluetooth module (part no. 13314404) that can be seen in the same image in the upper left and has 3 connectors sticking out (kind of crowded for a bluetooth module). Does it also connect to some other part of the vehicle or just the radio?
The knob near the arm rest and cup holders which is less important but still nice to know.
(All images are shamelessly taken from this ebay ad I provided the part numbers in case the image links go down.)
I would like to know how they connect to each other and to the rest of the vehicle and, if possible, what communication protocol they use (GMLAN, mid speed CAN, LIN ?).
What u guys with a biturbo getting for mpg? Mine averages 40 to 44 with the 20 inch wheels. Was thinking of maybe dropping a few inches to 18 inch wheels or maybe a eco remap.
Hi, I have a astra gtc biturbo with standard rear lights. With the drls on the left side rear had the bulb working but the offside rear is off. If I switch the headlights on then both bulbs work as they should. Anything causing the rear not to work? On the front I have led drls and installed a hid kit for the headlights all of which work well..
I have a 2013 Astra GTC with an ongoing problem where the car will drop to limp mode.
With a code reader it has shown that the problem is “P2084 - exhaust gas temperature sensor, circuit range/performance bank 1 Sensor 2”
I erase the codes, but they do not disappear from the unit completely (they still remain on the list, but cannot be read once erased) and the car will be fine for a few months before the car goes in to limp mode and I have to erase the codes again.
Last year I had a visit to Vauxhall who confirmed this was a known fault and updated the software. However, it failed to solve the problem – it just now happens less frequently.
I’ve ordered the sensor off ebay with part number (55566195) – does anyone know if this is the correct sensor?
Also, is it possible to erase the codes completely from the ECU, could that be a cause? Or will they disappear once the new sensor is fitted.
I’m trying to avoid a visit to Vauxhall as they will refuse to touch the car without a diagnostic.
