Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
A few months ago my car started consuming around half a liter more of diesel on a regular basis. I thought maybe it was the winter weather, but the winter was very mild here in the end. Now the temperature is usually pretty high, as we are approaching spring, so I'm having a hard time finding temperature the problem.
I waited to see how the car will behave after doing a yearly service - oil change, new oil filter, fuel filter, air filter and also changed the timing chain oil tensioner because of the rattling chain. This yearly service was done about 15000 km (9300 miles) after the first one I did after buying this car.
Now, two weeks later I can say that nothing has changed - the average consumption is 6.2 l/100 km (per the BC, while the exact value would be around 6.5 l/100 km). Before this "issue" the consumption was on average 5.7 according to BC and 6.0 was the true calculated value.
My usual driving schedule is a week or two of city driving and then a round trip of 300 km (190 miles).
The round trip is where I'm noticing the most significant changes. When driving around 130 km/h (80 mph) on the motorway the consumption shown on the BC is usually 6.5 l/100 km, while before it was 5.5 l/100 km. And when driving 100 km/h (60 mph) I get around 4-4.3 l/100 km, while before it was 3-3.5 l/100 km.
So basically what happens is that I fill up the tank, reset the BC, drive one leg of the road trip and my average consumption is more than 6 l/100 km, while before at times it would be less than 5 l/100 km in this use case.
99% of the time I'm driving alone in the car and it has 185000 km (115000 miles) on the clock. It's a 110 hp model.
Sorry if I bored you with too much information, I just wanted to be thorough.
tl;dr would be - the car is consuming 0.5-1l more of diesel fuel than expected, yearly service done, chain rattling fixed, no errors read with diagnostics.
Does anyone have an idea what could be bothering me and the things that should be checked first?
Hi I'm from west Yorkshire and have a Astra j sport tourer 1.7cdti ecoflex the cars been great apart from fuel gauge problems when It gets to just under half a tank
Hi all, Looking for some help/advice setting up my phone to my recently bought 2011 astra. I got this car because it has so many great qualities and the phone connection/bluetooth being 1 of them, as I've not had this before so was appealing. However, when searching through the configure options, theres nothing for phone or bluetooth and when I press the 'phone' button, it just mutes audio. I've reset the settings but still nothing.
I've read the infotainment booklet which says the bluetooth in the car and on the phone must be switched on, which is hard to do when I can't find bluetooth settings on the car! Then it goes onto "telephone specific adaptors" which is another level of idk for me, lol.
I took the car to a vauxhall garage to just ask if anyone had a clue, which they didn't, so they suggested looking on YouTube and if not, said I'd have to book it in to be looked at which will obviously cost.
I've looked on youtube and found tutorials of the same car but again, I have no options to select phone settings?! So have no idea where to even start to get this working if at all possible.
Some pics attached from booklet.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks
I had some work done recently to replace the passenger side wing mirror and glass on drivers side door, resultant of my GTC being vandalised.
The issue I have (and have pointed out to the repairers when I picked the vehicle up from), is that I no longer have indicator, seat belt and almost inaudible front parking sensor sounds. All these were in good working order before the car was broken into and sent off for repair.
I guess the chimes etc go through speakers. Are these in the front doors? They may have been disconnected due to the door cards being removed when the repair took place.
A dealership has inspected the car and it has taken them 2 weeks to state it is a problem with the radio. The vehicle has been in their custody during this time.
Just want to know if anyone has had this or a similar problem with their car and how it can be fixed, if at all.

Hi all, has anyone out there got a J or K with this B16DTH (LVL) engine in, that has had trouble free motoring for many thousands of miles? Just trying to find out how reliable this engine is.
My 2015 Astra1.6 cdti at 65k now occasionally rattles on initial start-up, only for approx. 1-2 seconds, it sounds just like timing chain rattle, possibly tensioner problem! I've read somewhere on the forum that Vauxhall say "it is a characteristic of that engine", but is this the start of something more serious?? There have been cases of the timing chain guides breaking up.
I'm trying to avoid my situation manifesting into something more serious. The engine has always had Vauxhall Dexos 2 oil and genuine Vaux. filters. Should I look at using a different oil now the car is out of warranty? Or perhaps some form of oil viscosity enhancer to keep the tensioner full of oil between start-ups?
Perhaps the guide breakups have been on cars that have not had regular oil changes, or poor oil quality?
Any help, experiences or comments would be appreciated, thanks in anticipation.
Just bought myself a 2015 2.0 cdti automatic sports tourer from secondhand with 130.000 miles, by the moment I have done over 3.000 miles and very happy with it
Hi all,
Got a message on my dash saying Service Power Steering. Just wondering if anyone’s had this issue before and how they handled it. Any tips would be much appreciated. Took a pic of the dash. Thanks
New to the forum so sorry if this has already been asked.
I have 18” astra gtc rims on my astra j 2015 but feel that it could do with a little dropping. Ive looked and can get a set of H&R springs from ECP but think the 30mm drop maybe a little too much for what im after?
Do the standard SRI springs fit as i know there 10-15mm lower than i have now?? That would be just nice for what im after
