Service power steering warning light.

Hi

My car has this warning come on and the steering goes very heavy and it's pretty dangerous when it happens whilst driving.

It will then turn off and then not come on again for a few days.

Has anyone had an issue with this before? I've had a brand new steering rack put in and checked the battery and alternator which are both fine.

Cheers dude. Yeah i took it to a garage but the fault couldn't be found as the light went away. I'll take it to vauxhall next week for an "investigation".

If anyone else does know what else it could be so I don't get conned let me know!

Strange, I thought the ECU would have stored the code? I've not had this problem myself, but I'm sure someone on here has or may have an idea, they're a good bunch on here mate

I took it back to the garage who put the new rack in. Said the only fault they could find was with wheel alignment.

Not sure if they're using a different computer?

Funny because we're finding every time the "hill start active" message comes on the steering fails soon after.

Taking it in tomorrow and then vauxhall later in the week and will keep the forum updated on findings.

If anyone else can help in the meantime let me know!
