Can I just check on the blue wire.
My understanding is that this is a input to the head unit. It expects 12 volts when reverse gear is engaged, which forces the head unit to turn on, and select the reverse camera input.
I can see that the head unit might notice video arriving on the reverse camera input and select that, without the blue wire being necessary. But does this happen if the head unit is turned off and you engage reverse?
