Hi

Finally got around to upgrading to two LED (number plate) lamps in my boot.  Nothing difficult about it.  For reference, the green wire is positive, and the black is (guess what) negative.  These are the units I used: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231541952627 with free next day delivery.  The resistors go in the "useful bits'n'bobs drawer".

No more fumbling around in the boot.  I am sure they can see the contents from the International Space Station now

Jonathan.

Was giving my car boot a long overdue clean today and noticed that I have a light fitting mounted on the left hand side. Never seen it some on so popped the light fitting out and noticed that it has a bulb but there are no wires attached to the unit? Is this normal for the 2.0cdti Sri vx line?

Not that I've been aware of, you can add wires to it though by splicing into the other boot light

Probably disconnected by a dealer who likes to display his cars on the lot with the hatch open, not realising the boot light automatically switches off after approx. 5 mins to save the battery from going flat.

The wires for it have probably fallen down behind the trim somewhere.

Check fuse 9 30A in glove-box.

Just remember it runs through the BCM so if the fuse hasn't blown it could just be you freaked the the BCM out.

Thanks mate, was pulling the awkward lil bulbs out to fit the led and the terminal bent over and shorted. Cant see the fuse anywhere.

If you touch the metal part the light goes out for 30mins - 1hour and will come back on. Happened when I done mine.

Noob question; I presume I need to disconnect the battery before working on the boot light?

I don't myself Just do one wire at a time to save any chance of causing a short.
