  Happy Blue& DPF
Posted by: Nuko-san - 11:th-Apr-2017, 21:17:21 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (5)

Got my HappyBLue but the DPF diagnostic shows nothing. Any idea? changed the license plate to LED, the fault override seems not to work... upon starting still am getting the "Check licence plate light". Is all of that normal?

Sun Visor Replacement - Help Needed
Posted by: Clueless@Cars - 11:th-Apr-2017, 18:41:22 - Forum: Interior How-to's - Replies (9)

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. The sun visor flaps on my Astra J have snapped off and so the lights on the visors no longer come on. I have ordered a complete pair of visors off eBay already but need help with swapping the old ones for the replacements if possible.

I have read the how to on removing the visors on the forum, is it just a simple case of following this again once the new visors come in the post?

Another though, is it possible to just swap the flap over from the replacements to the new ones? Know that would mean I've wasted my money on the complete visor but I noticed a lot of people on here mentioning that buying the complete visor was the easiest option to get a new flap.

Hoping someone can help!!

Cheers

Hi all, finally started getting some mods done to my 1.7cdti J.

Added footwell lights yesterday connected up to the courtesy lights so they will fade out when the doors is closed, also converted the interior lights to LED.

Next up is adding an additional light to the boot and getting the rear windows tinted.

Purchased my 1st Astra today ?
Posted by: GarethMyers14 - 9:th-Apr-2017, 22:45:57 - Forum: Introduction Area - Replies (6)

Evening all, today I picked up my first ever Astra. It's a 1.4 turbo limited edition. It's got 14,500 on the clock and is on a 14 plate which I don't think is bad at all.

Ive tried to upload some photos, but the site isn't letting me for some reason. I hope to make some small modifications later on down the line, but nothing too drastic

  DVD800 to modern android conversion
Posted by: zzattack - 9:th-Apr-2017, 15:28:13 - Forum: Medium cars Astra, Cascada, Vectra, Monaro & Insignia - Replies (9)

Recently bought a 2009 insignia with factory fitted DVD 800. In my previous car I had a flagship model pioneer so even if it's a nice system I have to consider it a downgrade.
The Chinese MTCD systems seem to offer a lot of value with 8-core 2GB and a nice capacitive touchscreen for hardware and a nicely customizable android 6 OS on the software side. That at a $450 USD price point seems very interesting, perhaps even more so since that seems to be kind of money I'd need to spend to upgrade the DVD 800 with DAB+. Or a rearview camera, heh.

Now I've done a fair bit of browser research on these units and every seller seems to insist these systems only 'work' on CD-300/CD-400 systems. The 'reasons' for this vary from "size not fit", "gps not compatible" to "can-bus decoder is different" of which only the can-bus argument seems somewhat plausible. Eventually I stumbled upon this nice forum where some retrofit experts seem to hang out. You guys have proven that upgrades to the DVD system are possible and now I'm wondering about the inverse, or rather, how both systems differ on a hardware level. Anyone able to shed some light on this?
