Hey guys,

Hopefully someone can assist, for some reason it seems my account (JJ0063) has been banned/is broken? I've not posted for a while so have no idea why this would be?

I just get the usual no permission box but on EVERY page including the contact us link at the bottom.

Help?

Thanks in advance

Hi Guys and Girls
Just changed the stitching on my seats to red.
It's a scary job bit like a tattoo there is no going back but looks stunning once done

  Hello all
Posted by: Ripple - 6:th-Mar-2017, 21:04:25 - Forum: Introduction Area - Replies (4)

Hi all...

Just a quick introduction from your new member.

My forum username is Ripple but my real name is Giles (you can understand why i don't use my real name) and I've just parted with a lump of cash for my first "owned by me" car in about 15 years. Got rid of my company van when i changed jobs and went on the trawl for something that i liked the look of and that was reasonably economical as i do a 50 mile round trip commute to and from work each day.

I saw this red GTC in a local garage and with a 0% finance deal, it was everything i wanted. but unfortunately after a couple of weeks, the dealer/vauxhall quoted mpg seemed so wildly inaccurate that they offered to change it for something else. Other than the crappy milage it gave, I loved everything else about it so i had them source me another GTC but the 2.0 CDTi instead (came and had a look at this forum before i bought but didn't register) I Got the 1/2 pleather interior in both but with the new one i lost the bluetooth and gained front and rear parking sensors (rather the bluetooth tbh)

The wife has had 3 siggys now and as a company hack, they've been faultless other than she manages to hit every stationary object in the south west of the country!

My other toys are my Mini Cooper. Ive had half dozen minis in my driving past and there is nothing that comes close to the driving experience and sound and smell of an old car (call me nostalgic but theres something about old car smell!)
My other guilty pleasure is my bike (ex-bike now for the time being :-( ) as the feeling of riding is something else... they say "only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window" and i can't wait to get the GTC paid for so i can pick up another but its more important to get to work than have another sunday toy

So thats me, hope to get to know you all a little better over the coming months  Thud

  Dave's Astra GTC 1.4 turbo 120
Posted by: David1987 - 5:th-Mar-2017, 20:07:31 - Forum: Members car's progress threads - Replies (4)

Hi all, thought I'd start a little thread as I've just bought myself a 2012 Astra GTC 1.4 turbo (120).

My plans for the car are to get it up to around 180bhp, does this sound achievable? There must be other owners on here with the 1.4 turbo engine that have reached this sort of figure. What's the best route to take? Any info at all on this subject is appreciated as the GTC is still new to me.

My car has the 19 inch 5 spoke alloys, which I'm looking at getting refurbished in a dark colour, and I'm looking into lowering the car as it looks like it's on stilts at the moment. Can anyone recommend on tried and tested springs on the GTC? Most of the ones I've seen lower by 30mm. Does that make a good difference?

Beyond that I'm not too sure. I've noticed airtec do a nice front mount intercooler, anyone tried one?

Any help, advice etc welcome and appreciated. Pics to follow.

Dave ?

  CDR400 & Bluetooth Query
Posted by: Ripple - 5:th-Mar-2017, 18:18:59 - Forum: ICE - Replies (24)

Hi All,

I'm new here and sure I'm going to appreciate all the advice you will give for the foreseeable future!

I bought a 1.4 Petrol 63 J GTC about 4 months ago but due to the terrible economy i seemed to get from it (approx 28mpg on my 50 mile motorway commute) the dealership agreed to swap it out for the diesel version. So i now have a 63 2.0 SRi Diesel which I'm much happier with and I'm getting about 45mpg now.

On the older petrol version i had (i think) a CDR 400 "something" head unit in it with full bluetooth functionality and although i have all the buttons etc in the new car, i only have the ability to connect via a cable for music and nothing for phone.

My question is, does the headunit contain all the relevant bluetooth kit to just swap out with another unit or will i find that even with another unit, I've got all the buttons but still missing some kit. I really didn't want to go with a Parrot or suchlike if i can avoid it.

Thx in advance
