  Help?
Posted by: Steveb19111978 - 18:th-Nov-2017, 04:04:25 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (2)

I broke off 2 clips on the front badge when I removed it and they've now fallen back into the recesses so I can't get them out. If I get a new badge will this cause a problem when I go to fit it. If so, any ideas on how I can get the broken bits out? Thanks.

  Vauxhall Astra

Hello! Something happened with my Vauxhall Astra. The engine began to run unevenly, appeared to vibrate, and the oil consumption increased. Has anyone encountered this problem? What is the reason?

  Timing Belt query
Posted by: Breengin - 14:th-Nov-2017, 16:58:36 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (11)

My Astra is a 2011 model on a 60 plate and has a 1.7 cdti (125) engine. The mileage is sitting at 58k right now. When should the timing belt be changed and are there any pumps etc that need looked at at the same time?

After some digging about on the internet i seem to be coming up with loads of different answers to my question. 100k/10 years 100k/6 years 60k/6 years. Obviously i don't want to get it done the now if its a 100y/10k ratio. Hopefully someone on here can help.

  Funny Going On

Astra SE Tourer 2011

Just got back and opened door to get out.

1. The front courtesy lights did NOT go on (as normal)
2. Both rear courtesy lights DID GO ON
3 Checked and the front courtesy lights are still working by the rocker switches.
4. Locked the car and the rear courtesy LIGHT (nearside only bulb) REMAINS ON - the other goes OFF

I checked the settings in configuration and they are as set when I first got the car.

In the end I removed the LED's from the rear courtesy fitting as I do not want a flat battery in the morning

Any ideas?

  TrustPilot score for Chris Knott
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 13:th-Nov-2017, 13:51:28 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - No Replies

So, we signed up to the TrustPilot Review site and started getting client feedback quite quickly. Thank you if you left a review of our service.

Chris Knott Insurance now has a TrustPilot Score of 8.5/10 - not a bad start. There's always the need and desire to improve where we can though, so we value the feedback.

Here are the 10 TrustPilot reviews we received in the last fortnight...

"One of the best car insurance companies I have ever dealt with. Always very competitive and can mirror no claims too for a 2nd car (even if that's insured via another company). Highly recommended." Rich Baxter, Trustpilot

"Delighted. Warm, friendly service. Made it all very easy. Excellent price." Nicholas Taylor, Trustpilot

"Friendliest service ever from a car insurance company, highly recommended!" Anupama Rai, Trustpilot

"Top marks to Chris Knott! Easy to get through to speak to someone. Better cover and cheaper premium that previous insurer!" Andy, Trustpilot

"Exemplary. The lady I spoke to went out of her way to find me the best quote possible. Exemplary customer experience, she did a wonderful job." James Barrett, Trustpilot

"Very efficient, helpful and gave a good insurance quote." Eunice Crickmar, Trustpilot

"Couldn't have been more helpful, would definitely recommend. Very competitive pricing also." Mr Cullen, Trustpilot

"Very helpful and a good price." Malcolm Mingay, TrustPilot

"I like it so much. Excellent." Ismail Kasujee, Trustpilot

"Changed one car and house contents policies to Chris Knott recently. Already had one car insured with them. Quick to answer the phone, easy to deal with and efficient in sending out documents. Oh - and good prices too !!" Richard Smith, Trustpilot

  How-To GID Colour change
Posted by: umognog - 12:th-Nov-2017, 21:50:47 - Forum: LED Conversion's How-to's - Replies (7)

Hi all,

After a request for more information on the GID, I checked and had some rubbish photos kicking about and said I would pull together a quick how-to.

Please note, I am using Tapatalk on a phone with 4% battery to write this, let me know if the inevitable errors.

First up, follow the other how-to guides to remove the centre console trim, followed by the heating controls, ICE controls, dvd/cd unit and after removing those 6x 7mm hex bolts, the GID surround will simply pull away.

The GID itself will be rather obvious on how to remove from the trim, leaving you with the GID inside two pieces of black plastic.

First up, release the clips on the black plastic to split into two halves (clips on already split unit highlighted)

Next up, lift the dark grey retaining clip on the ribbon connector to remove the ribbon out. I don't recall it being necessary, however I'd rather undo it and be grateful, than leave it connected and rip it.

Then release the PCB & LCD from the remaining housing via the white tabs.

You can remove the LCD frame via the small tabs

Again, pay attention I don't think it is necessary but took the opportunity to give it a good clean.

Now you can release the PCB via the clips at the top and bottom and viola:

Happy go colour changy change

There are 16x plcc2 side view Lead's here.

I bought kingbright from Farnell UK, costing something like 12p each, far cheaper than the 99p each from eBay i could find!!

As with all electrical how-to I accept no responsibility for damage or problems you may encounter, please have your wits about you as identical models <> identical parts with Vauxhall/Opel!!
