A clone MDI you have to be-careful with also they don't last very long.
As for the tech 2 I know it was replaced by the MDI & cars made afterwards have limited use of TECH2.
Also if you went down the MDI route you would need to pay GM to sign up then you would need to pay per hour of use.
You wouldn't be able to program the BCM IPC ECU (anything security related) until you've applied for enhanced access.
