Wanting to install bluetooth and upgrade CD400
#1
As per the title

Next stage of upgrades to my car

As I have previously mentioned I was pretty hacked off that my Sri didnt come as standard with bluetooth (go figure that my wifes 63 plate £9K Kia has it!)

I dont want to undertake the work myself as I have very little patience and even less ability !

Been pricing up for bluetooth only install, metavoice system, circa £249 plus £100 fitting

This strikes me as pretty expensive for just having bluetooth

For an extra couple of hundred quid I could have the driveaudio system installed, which includes satnav and two usb ports

However, I still baulk at paying £550 and having to travel to have it installed

I have tried some more local car audio specialists, one of which suggested an android based system, however, when adding up the cost, it was way above £600 excluding installation

Are there any alternatives I have missed ? or do I just have to bite the bullet and shell out for it ?

Yep that's the best option and I believe he will fit it for you for 40 quid... Damn site better than spending the same money on just Bluetooth or even more on those horrible drive audio systems

That's what I have btw.. The one on ice box auto and I even replaced my factory Bluetooth with the bluetooth on the system and it works just as good

Thanks for that, price is good, however, a trip to Liverpool is a little further than I would want to go (its a 400 mile round trip) and as said previously attempting to fit myself is no go

ok so get it delivered and get it fitted local, have you any friends who are good with electrics, any local garages you trust

What @mrtc said is your best bet... Otherwise you're going to get Bluetooth but at an extortionate price or you're going to overpay for a media system like the one you mentioned and again get ripped off but also get a sub par bit of kit too...

Thanks Rusty, appreciate the offer and I may well take you up on that

Just waiting til payday now and Ill order one up

Thanks to everyone who has made suggestions

A few quick questions on the roadnav system

I assume it fits where the existing screen is? If so, do I lose outside temp, date time and the blower display ?
What is the screen display like ? It says it's only 65000 colours. Which strikes me as really quite poor display wise ?

Andy, All the info is available on the screen. Outside temp is at the top aka Android style, the heating settings come one when any of the heating controls are activated. The info button also brings them up.

It's a good piece of kit considering the price and what you get for it.

Not sure mate, it comes with the a std music player and a couple of other ones. Standard one is useable and works with the standard and steering controls. Bear in mind that the unit is Android so there may be something else in the play store that will work. Spotify works well.

My local dealer wanted close to £300 If I remember correctly to install the Bluetooth module, but I had a single din head unit from my old car that has Bluetooth and settled for the adapter kits (Connects2 CTKVX04) which where half the price the dealer wanted, not sure how much local places would charge to fit though.

Both of those units are made by Witson as is the m072. Strangely the M072 (S160 range) is made in their winca factory and has completely different software and hardware to the b/h range. Winca has released the s190 range but isn't much improved over the S160. (2gig rom vs 1gig rom.. Px3 cpu is the same) s200 range is coming out soon and will have the px5 cpu and probably more rom.
