Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
I recently just picked up this Astra J 2.0cdti Ecoflex S/S Elite.
My new pride and joy had previously an astra 1.4 08 plate but this is on another level im so happy with it. But I'm only 21 so not paid the best but still have plans for this car I. E. Getting the mirrors and roof wrapped, the windows and back lights tinted, remapped, new wheels and the list goes on and on haha.
I have joined as I'm a noob to car alterations and need all the help I can get but thanks for having me!
As above I have just got an ice white astra which i upgraded from a 1.4 08 astra and I'm in love however I'm just wondering am I stuck in terms of upgrading the speed of this car due to it being a 63 plate and being s/s? I mean I'm in no hurry due to only just getting the car im just wondering what my options will be when the time comes. Am I stuck to just a pedal box or are there any alternatives?
im new on this site and only just got my first astra what i would like help with is fitting an after market head unit as i do like my music
my first option would be to fit a sat nav unit like the alpine ine w990bt this requires a speed pulse signal for more accurate position on the unit where would i find the speed pulse wire to tap off??
i could forget sat nav and go with an alpine ive w585bt to fit both of these i will need to change the fascia is this a pig of a job or not to bad to do??
how much info will be lost on the top screen if i go ahead and do this install will the steering will controls cause problems the fascia is a connects2 model with all patch leads
i will also replacing the speakers and adding a sub are the door speakers a nightmare to do ? has anyone run a new loom for the door speaker or is it better to use existing loom??
thanks for any replys as im sure i will be asking more questions in the coming weeks as i progress
I decided to make this how-to in case someone wants to change steering wheel badge or replace it with a new one if damaged. You don't have to buy a new airbag, you just need to replace the front plastic cover. Swapped covers a month ago and it is a pretty easy job. The hardest part is to source the plastic cover.
Once you remove airbag, place it gently with the badge side down (careful not to scratch it).
The airbag is consisted of 2 pieces: the main body which contains airbag and the plastic cover with the badge on it.
Around the main body you will see 13 clips that hold the cover in place. You have to pry all of them in order to remove the cover. A great idea is to use an old plastic card cut into pieces and place them between the main body and the plastic cover. The clips are tight so use some force to place the card pieces between the body and the cover.
Now flip it over and pull the cover upwards to separate it from the body. The airbag will be revealed...
Horrifying, isn't it? DONT touch the actual airbag, just fit the new cover until all clips are secure..
Enjoy your new badge......
AS WITH ALL ELECTRICAL HOW TOO,S.
you do this at your own risk if you follow the how to correctly
there should be no problems thank you.

So, the AA released a report last month showing how much car insurance premiums have risen over the last 12 months. Apparently, premiums have gone up by 16.3% - an average of £82 per policy (£18 of which is due to the 2 IPT (tax) increases). The current average car insurance premium is now just pence below £586.
Well, maybe they don't know about this special car club/forum scheme. Bucking the trend, I see that our quotes have only risen 3% (£13) on average over the year and our average premium now sits at just £391.
I know members sometimes comment about having to get proof of their alternative quotes but if our scheme is quoting £195 less than the rest of the market (again on average) this minor inconvenience is surely worth it?
We'd be really grateful for the opportunity to quote for your car insurance when it falls due. ************ TESTIMONIALS
You knew we couldn't resist the urge to post a few recent client testimonials. Hopefully you'll find these 4 an encouragement to pick up the phone:
"I've used this company for approximately 10 years. I have two vehicles currently with them. I love the fact you can ring and speak to a familiar voice who is always willing to help. I get rewarded for staying with them, having more than one vehicle etc, etc. A type of insurance broker company that's rare. I left this broker one year then I returned, I think that speaks for itself! Thanks for your continued service "Georgie, Google Review
"Just had a quote from Ian, was more than happy with the quote! will more than likely be renewing with you, don't think the quote will be beat!"Jamesyy21x, CivicType-R.co.uk
"Just insured my car with Chris Knott. This proved to be a painless experience and the cost was less than 40% of the renewal quote I got from my existing insurer."Naraic, Mercedes-Benz Owner Forum
"Same here, can't match that kind of difference but very worthwhile. Good built-in benefits, etc. as well. I dealt with a charming lady called Kathy West who provided excellent, efficient service. Quotation done and dusted with copy sent by email in a matter of minutes."davemercedes, Mercedes-Benz Owner Forum
Has something changed on the forum? As of last week I can no longer access the site via Tapatalk...never had issues once in 3 years of being on this site till now.
So I purchased myself a set of GM LED tail lights on ebay, fitted them and they throw up "check brake light".
I could just live with it but wanted to see if I had any options.
I have seen something called HappyBlue OBD, which according to the notes allows for "Checkcontrol to Overwrite Failure / LED Expansion" has anyone ever used it?
