  Flexride shock absorber replacement
Posted by: rlievens - 27:th-Feb-2018, 13:46:24 - Forum: Mechanical - Replies (3)

Hi all,

So I have the car for almost a year now so I just went to the MOT here in Belgium and it passed with 1 remark: the right rear shock absorber is leaking.
Here's the picture:

Partnumbers on the sticker:
44 2400 005 332
GM 13 252 385
AAGF

So I have a few questions:
1. When should I replace this? As soon as possible or can I wait several months without a problem (it passed MOT). Should I replace both at the same time?
2. Is it possible to replace it yourself or do you need special equipment/lifting bridge? I found this manual (non-flexride) but it looks too easy Smile
3. I found these 2 on ebay, one new and one used. But they are from a GTC and the partnumbers don't really match. Will it fit nevertheless? I see different partnumbers for LHD and RHD, lowered or standard chassis, wheel size... So i'm guessing not Smile

Partnumbers website thingy I found (https://www.ilcats.ru/opel/?function=get...anguage=en)

Many thanks for your answers!

  Mind the GAP
Posted by: ChrisKnottIns - 26:th-Feb-2018, 15:34:07 - Forum: Chris Knott Insurance - No Replies

I just wanted to highlight a product in the Chris Knott range that will benefit some members when buying a new or nearly new car.

Chris Knott GAP Cover is important if you'd like to replace your car with another one at the original value following a total loss claim. Highly competitive, this protection is likely to be vastly cheaper than your car dealer's equivalent offering.

What is Chris Knott GAP cover?
You may have heard of Finance GAP or Return To Invoice (RTI) GAP but Chris Knott's GAP is a combination of the best of both those worlds...

In the event of a total loss, your motor insurer will only pay you the market value of your vehicle at the time of the loss. However, you may have outstanding finance owing on the vehicle which is greater than that market value. In any case you'll get back less than you paid for, or owe, on the vehicle.

This insurance covers you for 3 years and pays you the difference between your motor insurer's payout and the outstanding finance amount OR the net purchase invoice price (WHICHEVER IS GREATER) so you can buy another car for the original value.

Low cost, high value
Cover starts at just £117.85 for 3 year's cover - that's about £39 per year for great peace of mind.

Even a £50,000 vehicle only costs £216.22!

Get a quote
See how affordable Chris Knott GAP Cover could be for you at https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/GAP/?ref=clubs or call us on 0800 917 2274.

best,
Nick

PS. Cover must be arranged within the first 90 days of ownership but is available for all vehicles less than 8 years old with less than 80,000 miles on the clock at the start of the policy.

GAP Testimonials

"I've been with Chris Knott for quite a few years including both the XE and the previous XF, plus my other runabouts. Also insured modified cars with them in the past with no hassle. Got my GAP insurance through CKI as it was a lot cheaper than Jaguar's own quote and others, too. They've always been the best for service, speed and price..." Pete McK, JagInfo

"Just a quick one, covered my ST earlier with Chris Knott's GAP Insurance...it took me 5 minutes for a quote online and about 10 minutes on the phone to finalise. The lady I spoke to was great and managed to answer everything I asked..." titchytom86, FiestaST OC

  Hello from Aldershot

Hi, I recently bought a 64 plate Astra J 2.0 CDTI S/S Elite and mainly loving it. I've joined this forum as it seems a friendly and informative place.

I already changed the DRLs to the PIAA ones as the yellowey lights just didn't look right, and my next mod I am planning is to get one of the android head units from Iceboxautos. I was gobsmacked when I realised my supposedly top-of-the-range car didn't even come with Bluetooth, so replacing the HU will bring it up to date, and add plenty more too.

Another thing I want to add is a sunglass holder. I saw plenty of posts saying they were just over a tenner (admittedly not recent posts) but I can't seem to find any for under £30. Have they really tripled in price in the last few years or am I looking in the wrong places?

Hi All,

Thought I would introduce myself to the form.

I am Dylan and have '63 plate Astra GTC

Reason for joining the forum is that I have been having some issues in disconnecting the cable of my wing mirror.

Take it easy everyone.

  DAB Antenna
Posted by: Desperado - 21:st-Feb-2018, 11:43:12 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (1)

Does anyone know a way to convert my normal non-amplified antenna to a dab one?
I do not really want to install and external/windshield antenna and was wondering if there is a way to do that.
