Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
Hi guy was wondering if anyone knows how to activate a new tpms sensor that I had to replace as when I changed my tires the core was seized in and snapped when removing it. I was told by Vauxhall the new one should automatically set to car but it’s flashing the tpms symbol on the dash and seeing as it’s first mot is due at end of month really want it sorted.
I have an Astra J 1.4 turbo which the other week I knocked a hose off which is held on with a little plastic clip and radiator coolant was pumping out like a fountain (as car engine was running). It is the hose that T off another hose and leads to the expansion tank (smaller pipe), as I said the T hose is held on with a little plastic clip.
When I put it all back together I noticed it kept leaking coolant from the same area so I thought a little o-ring washer must of come off when the water pumped out. So I put a new o-ring washer on which solved to issue.
However I think there is air in the system now as whenever I take the car for a bit of a run and stop steam keeps coming out of the expansion tank.
Can someone please tell me the correct procedure for bleeding the Astra j 1.4 turbo.
Hi, could anyone give me a link for some PLCC-2 side view LED’s in bright white? I’m going to change them in my up level display and looking on eBay and can only see surface mounted ones unless I’m missing something
Thanks in advance
I was thinking of buying a fault diagnosis scanning tool and have seen this on eBay
But in the description it says for Vauxhall’s up to 2010, so does that mean it’s no good for later cars?
Just had a new box put on the car last week, now my cruise control isn't working in 5th gear. Anybody got any ideas? As far as I can see theres no gear position sensor, will engage fine in any gear and i can change up but the moment i lift foot off clutch in 5th the green light goes out.
Tried putting foot under clutch pedal and pulling up but no joy.
It's a 1.6na with the 5 speed heap of ***** box.
Just unplugged battery in the hope it may reset the ecu but I aint joyful. It will be going back to the gearbox people but they're as stumped as I am.
Looking for some advice. Driving home earlier and at about 40mph I jad "Service ESP" flash up on the trip display- additonal to this the TC light and ABS warning lights both showed in the gauges!
They look absolutely stunning. Face on without any direct light they are just gloss black. Slightest bit of direct light and they come to life. A complete custom one off colour.
Recently I got my J back on the road after it had been stood for a year without being started much.
The car had been running fairly well for the first week or so so I decided I was gonna treat it to a full service, replace the thermostat (had the "service vehicle soon" message for some time), coil pack, get some new floor mats and take care of the minor advisories on the MOT.
For a week I noticed that the car was starting to get very sluggish turning over, but it always fired up. Eventually one day in a petrol station it failed to start so I was lucky enough to get a jump start to get going. Once home the starting issue turned into nothing more than a click on startup.
Jump starting wouldn't work, I could only start it with a push.
I ordered a new Varta Blue battery and it was delivered next day, but despite the new battery being fully charged the car would still only click and not turn over.
I took advice from a few people and also did a lot of research to diagnose the problem, and everything pointed to a faulty starter motor.
I booked it into a local garage and today they tell me that there is no charge going into the system, the tests showed there was no charge coming from the alternator.
(On the way to the garage I got a new message, "Service battery charging system" and the battery light stayed lit)
So anyway I'm told I need a new alternator, is this likely to be an expensive fix?
This year I plan to trade the car in so I'm not really inclined to spend a fortune on it, so should I go for an OEM quality part or pay the extra and get genuine?
Apologies for the wall of text, and thanks for any replies.
