Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
Hi all, I'm looking at getting some new breaks, pads and calipers. Mainly because I've got to get new discs and pads anyhow and I might as well go the whole hog. Also because I've just gotten the car 7 weeks back and will get a few year out of it, so the sooner I do it the more use ill have out of it. anyway...
I want to know if anyone can recommend a particular website which will give me the best value for money.
Also if anyone has any recommendations of what i should buy. Its an 59 Astra J (obviously) 1.6 N/A and 19 inch wheels.
A point in the right direction would be a great help. Thank you
New Astra owner. First time poster.
I bought an Astra J 2010 1.6 SE recently. Within a few weeks the low coolant warning came on the dash, the level only dropped a little also fan wasn't kicking in and engine seemed very hot after only a short drive. Dealer replaced the thermostat and housing, within sales warranty, which had leaked some coolant and tested the fan as well.
I have only done a couple of 5 minute 20-30mph drives since, but each time have checked the engine because I am nervous and I can't hear the fan. The engine is getting really hot (to the point where rain drops are boiling when they hit it) after only that short drive. Temp gauge stays at 80C. Also the fan only kicks in for about 10 secs and goes off (presumably because it has cooled below the thermostat temp during that 10 secs). I am basing this on my previous car which never got this hot and the fan would more or less always be on once heated up.
Can anyone tell me if it is normal for the engine to be this hot. I am worried its going to overheat and blow the head gasket.
I'm looking at upgrading from my CD400 to an Android headunit soon. I know a lot of people here use the M072 and it seems to have reasonable reviews but I have noticed that Icebox also do an Android 6.0 headunit for basically the same money. It also has a better processor and more memory.
Heres a link http://www.iceboxauto.com/opel-astra-j-2...d-60-b5754
Has anyone any experience of the Android 6.0 headunit or is it best to stick with the tried and tested M072?
I'm wanting to get my car an economy remap. Its a 1.6NA. Has anyone had this done or anyone know a trustworthy place to get it done in/around Newcastle?
Hello all,
I've owned my 64 plate 2.0cdti elite auto for around a year now. So I'm getting quite used to the dpf regeneration function.
My driving style usually consists of longer journeys around 60% of the time. Although the other time is spent driving around town. Never usually do less than a 7 mile journey, even around town. My dpf seems to regenerate around every 1-2 weeks. Although It's not done on an intelligent basis. I.e I have been on a long journey. Stopped the car for half an hour. Gone on a short trip again, when I arrive home. I turn the ignition off. Hadn't realised it was in the middle of a regeneration, due to listening to my radio. Then he fan comes on, car then sounds like a hovercraft for around 2-3 minutes As the car must have been in the middle of a dpf regen. Does this sound similar to other 2.0cdti owners? Or is there a fault? I've never had the regen light appear on my dash, no ecu lights. Car runs A1. No extra oil dumped into my engine. Annoying, none the less.
