  Lowering & widening advice please.
Posted by: ronnierae - 16:th-May-2017, 09:36:11 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (8)

Hi Im thinking of going the Eibach Pro 30ml spring lowering kit route with my Gtc Sri 2ltr Cdti 3door 13 plate.

Also thinking of fitting Eibach pro wheel spacers. Has anyone had any experience with the springs, spacers, how wide to go, where to buy them and oh are they legal?
Many thanks from sunny Northumberland ??

  insignia fog lights preparation
Posted by: zzattack - 15:th-May-2017, 23:21:08 - Forum: Retrofit Research - Replies (17)

I'm preparing to install front fogs in my insignia. I think I've got most of the info ready but still have a few questions. I like to know the procedure from start to finish so there's no surprises.

When all is said and done I'd like to write up a how-to for it.

Parts:
- The lamps, obviously. OEM nr. 13226828 and 13226829.

- H10 bulbs 2x. Already fitted in above image. Should be easily available, though the bulb isn't common so might take a day before they stock.

- The grill covers, both sides. OEM nr. 1400463, 1400464.

- H10 connector and wire 2x.

- Crimp pins for fusebox. Found by rusty2009, seemingly only available at mouser. Couldn't find them on any of the competitors' websites.
Will add pic when they arrive.

- Light switch which includes a button for the front fog lights. OEM nr. 13268702. Might need a different one for right-hand drive vehicles!

- Electrical wire. Simple speaker wire should suffice.
- Faston round terminals for the ground connection of the fogs. Attach somewhere to chassis.
- Unsure: might need some screws or fitting materials.

Electrical:
Schematic, courtesy of rusty2009.

From my understanding, we can tap into the 48 fuse in the box under the bonnet. The KR46 relay will power the fog lights when the K9 body control module indicates they should be turned on.

If I'm not mistaken (please correct me if I am!!), this means we can route a wire from the 48 fuse to the lamps.

Lifting up the fusebox reveals the block where we can hopefully add the wire that'll run to the fogs. I will have to do some measuring to find out precisely where we can insert the wires. Will update once I know more.

Fitting:
Will have a look how to tackle this. When I know more I'll add it here.

  Diameter of front discs
Posted by: dutton84 - 14:th-May-2017, 10:38:53 - Forum: Request for information - Replies (6)

Hello

Euro car parts are doing up to 55% off today, so I'm after buying front and back discs and pads. I can get the lot for £156.46!

Problem is I'm unsure of the diameter of the front disc. Euro car parts say that there's 2 types 300mm and 321mm I've just measured mine and they're 280mm!

  Intermittent starting issue?
Posted by: Boroboy - 13:th-May-2017, 22:19:40 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (10)

I've owned my 63 plate 2.0cdti elite auto for around a year now, this being my 4th J.
Anyway for around a year now this one has suffered from a very intermittent starting prob.
I went to start the car today, as you do. Just before setting off to work. Sat in my car, gearstick within the parked position (being an auto), turned ignition key on to start it, nothing. Turned key off, then back on again, but within the on, not starting position. Clocks did their checks, turned it on, nothing again. Turned the key off again. Thinking about how I'm going to get to work. Waited around 10 seconds, turned key on. Fired straight up. Used it all day, today. No issues. This problem has probably occurred around 6 times over the duration of ownership. Last time, being around 3 months ago. Very intermittent. Going to check battery voltage tomorrow with my multi meter.
I've never had this problem with any of my previous J's. 1.6, 1.4t, 2.0cdti, all being manual versions.
Anyone else had similar issues? Solution?

Cheers

Well I got it fitted today and it looks great the fitter from icebox was brilliant took him less than an hour to do it, only issue is the radio isn't scanning but he said he's gona get a signal booster to sort that which is good have to say the screen quality is brilliant and it looks like it's factory fitted,

Got a better picture on instagram if anyone wants a look @jhill7168

if i have been driving for a while, when they go off the red lights on the controls all go off, when they work they work on all speeds
air con works ice cold ect, checked fuse seems ok,check wire to blower all fine,do you think it could be the panel?
