Hey folks,
I need new tyres, but always conscious about how they perform. Dont/cant break the bank, but at the same time need some decent rubber.
My choices are:
- Dunlop SP Sport 1, Part Worn with approx 5.5-6mm tread remaining - around £70 the pair fitted;
- Uniroyal Rainsport 2 - NEW - around £120 the pair fitted;
- Nexen N 8000 - NEW - around £120 the pair fitted;
- Maxxis Premitra HP5 - NEW - around £150 the pair fitted;
- Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 - NEW - around £150 the pair fitted;
Let me know please.
Thanks,
G.

MORE RECENT TESTIMONIALS from happy clients
"A friend's got himself a shiny new passat 61 plate estate, anyway, recommended Chris Knott, he spoke to an Ian Willis and lo and behold Chris Knott were the cheapest by £70, so he's well chuffed, not only that because I recommended Chris Knott I get a £20 discount when my renewal comes up in December. If I renew with Chris Knott (here's hoping I do) it will be the fourth year with same insurer, talk about looking after existing customers You rock!" Imran, VWAudi Forum
"Well I will be insuring with you for another year as your quote is cheaper than any other I have found. Have also recommended you to my dad, so am waiting to see if he goes with you so I can get my £20 discount to make it an even better deal. The guys at CKI are really friendly and helpful, but I can't comment on the claims process as I have not had to make a claim." Steviec100, 208 Owners Club
"Just had the renewal price for mine and is gone up just a shade over the 16.3[% national] average so it's looking like I'll renew [with CK] for the third time running. I've done all the comparison sites, Aviva, Direct Line, Allianz and nobody can touch them again. Makes a change from the p#ss take I got from several others after a low first year." gerrywac, UK-MkIVs.net
"Renewed my insurance with you guys earlier today, didn't see much of an increase at all." mark-in-stoke, GT86/BRZ Owners Club
"I was expecting an increase with my insurance which is due soon, but when the renewal came through it had dropped by £21.00 and is now only £176.00 (last year £197.00). Not bad for fully comp' insurance, 2yrs NCD." Xanadu, Celica Club UK

Noise when using bluetooth for music

I have an eftermarket unit called RoadCommander. It´s like the well known Icebox and also have the big screen and replaces the CD400 unit.
The problem I have is, when using bluetooth for streaming music with my phone. There is a consistent noise. The noise doesn´t change when pressing accellerator pedal or driving at all. It´s consistent and very annoying to listen to. When you turn up the volume it follow´s up and becomes more annoying.
I don´t have AUX input otherwise I would definately be using that. Only connections for the wide iPhone plug and 2xUSB female plug for USB keys. I got a adapter cable with a male 3.5mm jackplug and male USB and connected it to the free USB female, but no music.
I have been thinking just to bin it and get icebox. But then again. It should be working.
Anybody got any idea what to do.

My remap nightmare

So had a remap a few weeks ago in Cardiff, few friends have had one there and had no problems at all. Had it done, felt hardly any difference. It's a 2012 2.0 Cdti.
Put my foot down in 6th, straight into limp mode because of overboost. Guy said he had adapted an insignia map to suit it. Took it back and they changed it, no more limp mode but still hardly a difference, and poor fuel consumption.
Took it do a dyno, got figures of 167 bhp and 390nm. Torque has improved a little but hardly any bhp, 160 standard.
Now they are saying it's probably a turbo problem. I don't think it is tbh, any one had problems with remaps on this car? Or any suggestions what it could be? Thanks

Advice needed regarding HID upgrade for a 2010 Insignia

Hello everyone!
I am the owner of a 2010 Insignia that is factory equipped with a pair of halogen headlamps. I should also mention it has headlamp washers and manual leveling.
I use this car daily mostly to and from work. During autumn / winter I finish work after night fall and my daily commute includes a 30 km piece of road through an unlit field that has been known to have the occasional jaywalking rabbit or other, larger, 4 hoofed creature.
I recently drove a friend's car equipped with factory HIDs. The light output, the crisp cut off and the uniform light distribution made my halogen lamps feel like candles by comparison and I've since been considering upgrading my siggy with a pair of HIDs but I don't really know where to start. So far, these are the options I came up with:
- Install a pair of new halogen bulbs (the current set is as old as the car itself) and see how much of an improvement it makes
- Get an HID kit, blind any oncoming driver, have a rubbish light pattern and also break some laws (worst idea of the bunch, I believe)
- Hack the current lamp units to install a lens and an HID kit which may result in a decent result and, as long as I don't ruin the lights, might prove cost effective
- Do it properly and install the OEM HID headlamps and all that it ensues. This is the most expensive of all options as the OEM units themselves are quite hefty priced, nevermind the self leveling, the wiring and programming (which I wasn't able to find out if it is necessary).
- While the OEM self leveling, adaptive headlamps sound nice, I lived with static headlights up to this point, I could live with them longer. That being said, the last option would be to buy and use an aftermarket head lamp unit and install an HID kit.
As far as I can tell, the last option would constitute the best compromise in regards to the end result and the cost. I can get myself these or these which can use either halogen or HID and are compatible with the existing wiring loom so I can plug in an HID kit as well. What I do not know is how good these aftermarket headlights actually are. Another concern is the effect this would have on incoming traffic. Even if it would have a lens, it won't self-level...
Can anyone chime in and offer an advice or an opinion as to what the best option would be and why?

Has anyone ever diy fitted a towbar to there J. I need one for my sports tourer to pull my trailer. Just looking into it I want a removable Swan neck but there's two types of electrics dedicated and universal. Im just wondering if I buy dedicated does it just plug into the car. Does anything need activating in the ecu after fitting. I'm not worried about the spannering just don't wanna be chopping wires in my nice shiny astra

Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 15 plate J, the only issue i am having with her is that i cannot get along with the headlights, they seem really dim, even when clean.
Possibly because I am used to running HID's in my ancient old banger .
Does anyone have any recommendations for HID conversion kits, or alternatively - bloody bright headlights?
Thanks,
Andrew

I have just bought an Astra GTC (2012) and it doesn't have bluetooth as part of the spec. I've done loads of searching but haven't been able to find an answer to my question.
My GTC has the CD400 HU, with Navi 600 and infinity sound system are there any options to fit bluetooth if it's an aftermarket system (Parrot, Bury etc.) any info on leads required?
Cheers
Rich
