i have put some led lights inside my car power via the fuse box in glove box
but they seem to stay on when i take the key out unless i turn them off myself is there a certain slot i should plug them into?

You need to find a supply fed from the ignition switch that is only live when the key is turned. Something like the ciggy lighter/accessory socket.
Have you got a multimeter? Makes life a lot easier.
