The higher the wattage of a fuse means the thicker the fuse wire/more current it will take before blowing.
If you put a 5 amp fuse in, it will blow at a lower current than a 20amp.
I'm not running a fuse at all but thats the risk I'm willing to take, touch wood in the 2 years and 3 cars I've not had a problem.
