Air con pully/clutch question

Anyone on here had any luck with servicing the pully/clutch on a 2.0 cdti?
Had it into a garrage today who want to replace the whole pump for £500
But can't get a part until next week.
Have a long drive this weekend (over 1000 miles) and I don't fancy being without air conditioning 

The center of the pully tries to catch when air conditioning switched on so I'm pretty confident it's the clutch mech thst is gubbed

Hi i think im having a similar issue on my 1.4t gtc or so the mechanic says its something to do with the aircon clutch? But needs to be stripped down and checked! Basically can hear a slight squeel as the car is running and then when aircon is on it gets alot louder. Its almost as if it makes the whole engine shake! Air con works fine though to my knowledge..

Do you have any similar issues like this or is your air con not working?
