Hi All Smile

So I'm no electrician but I wanna test if my LED strip works that I plan on using for the footwell lighting before I wire it all up in the car...is there any way for my to do so around the house?

Could jam the wires in the plug socket but something tells me that's a bad idea hahahaha

Do you have a 9v battery?

If so use that.

Nice one! Just half inched one from the smoke alarm for 5 mins seems to work fine! Not as bright as I thought though... Will it be brighter when wired to the cars electrics?

Yes will brighter your only using 9v and the battery could also be low.
