Hi all I've been advised by Russel to post on here I have the 1.7 cdti 2011 and I've been getting a grinding /scraping noise coming from the front of the car sometimes it sounds like its coming from the wheel area or even the engine bay ... It don't happen when the car is idle only when driving and the sound increases when I accelerate ... I've recently changed the front break disks and pads but that didn't solve it ... The noise doesn't start immediately when driving useualy about 2-3 mins of driving ... Then once the car has "warmed" up as if to say the noise stops . Another way I could describe the sound is like someone pulling scraping a empty plastic bucket along the floor.
Hope you can help thanks

Welcome first thing to check would be the wheel arch liners and look for any evidence of rubbing from the wheel
other possibility's drive shaft of clutch so this really needs to be looked at i would go to your local garage and get an opinion
noises are hard to diagnose online

hey thanks for the quick reply ... i checked the wheel arch liners and some had no plugs so i replaced them ... i couldnt find the correct size ones so i had to "make" them fit with some alterations ... if you had a link to the correct size ones that would be great ... and also yes i think its a garage job but id have to leave it there because it only dose it once the car has been idle for some time .

rusty will look the clips up for you as there a few different sizes
is your clutch stiff at all, but you 100% need to get that looked at any warranty left on the car

I'll look the clips up tomorrow.
It's a strange one the wife has a clicking noise on her car no one can track it down, I think I know what it is tho so when my mechanic is back I'll get him to check it out.
