Tyres for 18"

Ok so after talking with tucpal who said go for

225/40R18
Or
225/45R18 (better for speedmatch)

Now why is the 225/40R18 so much cheaper then the 45r18

I been on quick fit and i have read great reviews for arrowspeed at £72 each which is 225/40r18.
Yet if i want the 45r18 then im looking at 181 each for michelin :-/

I been using kwik fit for prices as they are mobile too at no extra cost.

Needing advise before i get my new alloys as could be more costly then I thought.

I would have thought it would be the other way around? Lower profile more money! Someone will be able to clarify

You can't really compare Arrowspeed against Michelin you need to do like for like. I always buy my wheels from Camskill and get a local tyre fitter to fit.

if your origanl tyres were 205. 60. r16. then you would need 225. 45. r18
this will keep the diameter that was 65.24cm and increase it to 65.97cm
and that is a good match so you speed error will be minimal
before with old tyres 30mph
with new tyre size 30.3mph

now if you old tyres were 205 60 17 that would be a different story
you would need 225 50 r18
so at 30mph your new speed would be 30.2mph

have a look at this lewis

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&...7201,d.ZGU

also you would have to compare the same brand tyres
as baz said you can not compare different brands for price

you could try maxxis

http://www.google.co.uk/aclk?sa=l&ai=CMu...rodlisting

as for speed rating you dont want anything under the max speed of the car

So I have been on the calculator http://www.tyretraders.com/Tyres_Calculator.aspx

now going from my old tyres which was standard on the car which where

205/60R16 H
Sidewall Height mm 123
Wheel RPM 785.19
Radius mm 326.2
Ratio Difference % -0.26
Speedo Reading 70MPH

Going to

215/45/r18
Sidewall Height mm 96.75
Wheel RPM 787.24
Radius mm 325.35
Ratio Difference % -0.85
Speedo Reading 69.82MPH

Mate if you are still wanting TPMS retrofitted get the sensors so they can be fitted in the wheels ready, you don't want to pay to have them fitted and re-balanced

There on eBay but the PCD is 110 which is strange as wouldn't fit either engine.
