The SE & Elites still have the chrome mate but lower spec models don't.

That's how it's always been.

Oh okay, you said earlier on though that only the early models had the chrome

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - Rusty2009 - 11:th-Mar-2015

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - jjb - 12:th-Mar-2015

How? Where? Would love that on my car.

Does it show mpg, mls until empty etc?

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - tucpal - 12:th-Mar-2015

have a good read of this research thread

http://www.vxoc.org.uk/forum/Thread-Trip-Computer-Change-research

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 12:th-Mar-2015

It's a bit of a lengthy read but if you can be bothered and are able to find the correct cluster then you should be able to do it too . It does show all of that yeah but that wasn't as standard, I had to get someone to manually activate those and pay them for the service.

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - Rusty2009 - 12:th-Mar-2015

Well worth a read

Just read it! Congratulations. Bit confusing at times (I'm new to all this) but I think I get idea.

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 18:th-Mar-2015

So I decided to buy chrome trim for the fog lights that sticks onto the black trim that I already have. Decided this was the cheaper option rather than spending £100+ on the various parts needed to get the proper fog lights installed which had the chrome trim on the surround which I'd then never use anyway lol.

Should be coming this weekend so will get them installed and post some photos link is as follows if anyones interested:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CHROME-FOG-LIGHT-LAMP-TRIM-ACCENTS-SURROUNDS-COVERS-FOR-VAUXHALL-ASTRA-J-12-/191539307888?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c98a1e570

Which leads me to another thing I wanted to do and another question! Ha. Does anyone know of the grill chrome trim just slots into a space on my current grill or is it not that simple? The one i'm referring too to is this genuine GM product below:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-ASTRA-J-5DR-2010-2013-Grille-Frame-Bumper-Moulding-Chrome-/131299653804?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e9211b8ac

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - tucpal - 18:th-Mar-2015

Sounds the Cheeper option with the trims rusty knows about the other grill trim I am Lewis had to buy a new grill

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 18:th-Mar-2015

Ahhh okay, well just thought that was the only way of doing it with that being an official part and all...will have to see if Rusty2009 knows more then would't mind that on my car

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - Rusty2009 - 19:th-Mar-2015

Yes but is a real pain in the **** to do grill needs to come out first.

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 19:th-Mar-2015

Ahhh right okay! Job for another time then, it's going on my list though haha

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

What do people think of this cheap alternative to the whole light replacement to get the chrome?

Will stick the photos in the main thread soon and some of the front of the car too when I can blur the Reg out . I think they look great myself!

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - Lewis6317 - 21:st-Mar-2015

Nice mate

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

Thanks dude! Can't tell the difference between those and the proper ones either! Just wasn't too fussed about the fog lights ya see...I was only doing those because the holder had a space for them..so was gonna cost me loads for something I wasn't gonna use

Edit: I thought you were tucpal when I replied lol. Been speaking with him about this, hope what I meant made sense :P

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

I was parked next to an elite in the same colour and same engine size as my car at the garage today...was checking it out to see how far off I was from mine being like that haha

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - tucpal - 21:st-Mar-2015

they look spot on very hard to tell the difference and it does give the front a lift very good

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

Yeah it really does doesn't it! Cheap and effective . Would like the chrome trim around the lower grill too but rusty said that it's a pain to fit as the whole bumper needs to come off...

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

I know it's just the same as a stock car with the chrome on it but yeah, there's another photo. Will get them all in the main thread asap . Made up with it.

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - Rusty2009 - 21:st-Mar-2015

That does look much better mate, just the grill to do now.

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

Yup! Annoying because it does look like it can be pulled out from the front but as you said it's a ball ache and you have to remove the bumper don't you

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - Rusty2009 - 21:st-Mar-2015

Yes mate it needs to unclipped form the back so bumper off and lower grill out, you might be able to do leaving the lower in but taking it out will you to see all the clips and twist the grill around.

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 21:st-Mar-2015

Right okay, well once I've braved up a bit ill do it as I've never do any proper work on the exterior yet lol

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 22:nd-Mar-2015

All done with the IPC anyway! Have added a few more pics to the thread too will leave the others in there of the mileage with the "-----" just for reference and comparison

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - tucpal - 22:nd-Mar-2015

well done

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 22:nd-Mar-2015

Cheers! I'm properly made up yanno!!! Haha

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 28:th-Mar-2015

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 28:th-Mar-2015

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 29:th-Mar-2015

Yeah I think so too . Few more things I want to do to this car from an exterior point of view as I still think it looks a little dull

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 29:th-Mar-2015

Have completed the full interior led conversion that's boot light, glove compartment, front lights and rear lights. Couple of pictures here:

They look blue but they are bright white also gonna fit another one in the boot when I have chance and have leds to put in the visors when I get them off Rusty2009 next month

Edit: wow!! These things are properly bright and have a sort of blue tint to them!

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 4:th-Apr-2015

Cheers mate! Impressed with them, they're really bright and I don't have to squint to see things now as the other lights were pants! Ha.

Have some leds to put in the visors I'm getting from rusty too

RE: Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - tucpal - 4:th-Apr-2015

they really do make all the difference

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 4:th-Apr-2015

100% do mate! also I THINK I may have a bit of money in the budget after getting those visors to get the chrome door/window trim I told you about too! I've been wanting to do this since getting the car! Ha. Just hope it will be as good as the genuine thing

RE: Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sotoskon - 5:th-Apr-2015

What kind of led are they? From where did you buy them?

Progress Thread: Sheppy1 - sheppy1 - 5:th-Apr-2015

Hi there

These are the ones that I bought, they come from China and take about a week or two to arrive but worth the wait .
