Hi All,
I bought my car about 6 months ago, its only 5 years old and had less than 40k on the clock. At first I had two issues with the car, the engine coolant light was coming on even though it had just been serviced and remote locking with the buttons in the car was hit and miss, sometimes they'd work other times it wouldnt, same with taking the key out, it wouldn't automatically unlock the doors at times.
I took it back to lookers and they spent around 3 weeks in total with the car (locking was meant to be fixed first time and wasn't.) I just recently topped up the coolant as it needed topping up however it's still warning me now 1/2 times every journey I make. The remote locking seemed to be fixed for a few months but the past 2 months it's been that bad that I've had to just get in and use the lock on the key to lock and unlock the doors.
I was wondering if this is common or not and how to try and fix these issues
Thanks

| Rear driving light not working |

Hi
The rear light drives side has stopped working. At first, I thought it was a bulb problem. Bulb ok. So the next thought that it must be the bulb holders. But check that on another car and on the opposite side. I've ruled that out as well. So it can only be the wiring or the plug itself. Can this be bought separately? Or is it a case of tapping into the wiring loom with a 2nd hand plug.
Regards

Winter Tyres and Chris Knott
Hi, I'm often asked on club forums (and Facebook groups) about switching to winter wheels/tyres and whether an insurer will charge extra if you do.
As it's getting to that time of year again I thought I'd just reassure any Chris Knott clients that the insurers we use don't usually charge for this. However, if you are thinking of swapping your wheels we do have to log when you make the switch and then again when you go back to normal - so please let us know on 0800 917 2274.
Thanks,
Nick

FEEDBACK
"Been with them for years now. I check about every year but so far the best price, understanding of simple mods / winter wheels and cust service has been there every time. Very happy so far." Joanna Cole, New Mini Scotland
"Excellent service when arranging insurance for 2 cars. As much as possible is done by email which is efficient..." Julian P, TrustPilot
"Quick, simple and always matching prices with trustworthy insurances." Carla, TrustPilot
"First class service. Cannot fault any of the service given, highly recommended." Paul H, TrustPilot
"Continuing my annual insurance search, Chris Knott have beaten my (already cheap) renewal by 10% but I’m getting some really outrageous quotes. Most north of £500 and a few into 4 figures!" Steve Ingall, Alfabook

Hi there
My name is Eric and I am new to the forum. I was removing the wheels from my car to clean and prepare them for winter and noticed that the front coil springs have coil spring assister rubbers between the coils, 2 on each coil spring. What are they for?
My car is a 2015 65 plate Astra 1.4t Limited Edition.

| Castrol 5w40? |

Hello to all,
Oil change schedule today. Somebody told me Castrol Edge 5w40 is better than GM oil. So now i bought Castrol Edge turbo diesel 5w-40 TITANIUM FST. What you think about this oil and oil grade for Opel Astra J 1.7 cdti, 2011? This oil is full synthetic. Usually I'm changing GM 5w30, now this Castrol is 5w40, can this be a problem?
Car passed already over 185 000km.
So far with GM oil I did not have any problems. But I just want to try Castrol. Changing oil yearly not passing too much km.
Any comments appreciated.
Cheers, Zoran

Got some shiny new shoes for my car.
https://i.imgur.com/v0ExrFI.jpg
Irmscher Evostar 20" 8.5J ET40 235/35. They came with 245/40 which looked good, but they were rubbing and to be fair falling apart. Just need to get the wheels aligned now.
I haven't done many other mods. I've changed the DRL to LED and changed some of the internal bulbs to a cyan colour, which look great with the red colour of the car.
I'm thinking about fitting some Eibach springs to lower another 20mm, but to be honest it doesn't look too bad on the SRI springs.
