  DPF problems almost new
Posted by: Caddylac - 11:th-Aug-2021, 21:52:46 - Forum: Vauxhall General - Replies (3)

Hello all, recently I got some error messages on my 1.3 Astra but before I go to a specialist I would like to see if is something that I can do by myself

So, a couple of days ago I got "Service Vehicle Soon" message before starting the engine. I kinda think that the problem might be related with the DPF since in the last 3 weeks I've used the car only for a couple of miles to reach my work place. I've moved very close to work but since I don't have a parking permit yet, I need to move my car from the place I live during the day

Yesterday I had to do some work 100 miles away from work and I decided to get my car in order to clean the DPF, after 20 miles I got the message, "DPF Cleaning, Continue Driving", after another 20/30 miles the message change to "DPF is Full, Continued Driving Mandatory. I was on the highway, so I continued for another 60 miles until I've reach my destination but nothing, the message didn't go away. On my way back, same thing, 100 miles but no cleaning. The message comes on as soon I turn on the keys, also "Service Vehicle Soon"

The filter is brand new, only 3000 miles made so far...

Arrived home, I've connected the computer and I got this error messages:

P2458-57 Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)  Regeneration Time - <Unknown status byte>
P2453-56 Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Differential Pressure Sensor Circuit - Too Many Transitions
P0192-5A Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Voltage - Not Plausible

Is there anything I can do by myself before hearing an expert?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  Flywheel or release bearing

Just bought a 1.7 cdti with 125000 and noticed that when on idle it’s noisy and car vibrates but when i press clutch it stops also gear lever is jumping when in 1,3,5,6 gear but 2,4 are fine also wine in all gears so rebuild/new gearbox,im going to change myself just don’t know if to buy a new clutch/flywheel as the clutch feels perfect just under half pulling away [Image: cdbd1b21a8aa2441f9c4062cad2c91fc.jpg]

Question Three GTC VXR questions
Posted by: neilll - 10:th-Aug-2021, 16:44:13 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (3)

Thinking of getting a VXR for a few years before we all end up driving Milk Floats

1. Looking for one in Arden Blue, why are they so scarce?
2. What's the average MPG for a VXR (without any silliness chasing BMw's) ? :-)
3. Are all VRX full leather interior or are some part leather?

  Ride height
Posted by: martinpe68 - 4:th-Aug-2021, 22:21:33 - Forum: Retrofit Research - No Replies

Hi, i am new here, so forgive if this has been covered, i can not see very much on it.

I have GTC SRi 2.0 cdti 2012 and i am going to replace springs with 30 mm lowered all around.

I read that the ride height for an Astra J is 112 mm.

Where exactly is this measurement taken from?

I measured 160 mm from the bottom of the rubber under the front bumper to the ground.

A typical kerb is about 125 mm, so it doesn't give much space.

Any input appreciated

Pat.

  Software for 1.6T
Posted by: Cynide - 2:nd-Aug-2021, 23:32:41 - Forum: Request for information - No Replies

Hey Forum,

I've been into modding for most of my life but more the old school way of NA (expensive way of going slow) and also turbo'ing cars that weren't turbo from factory.  More recently I've been playing around with more modern cars where software and bolton's make great gains.

After reading up on the 1.6T is seems it isn't the strongest of motor & gearbox combo's but should handle stg1 sw with relative ease.  I'm not that familiar with the UK market so have done allot of googling.  I've had 2 options that I'd like to ask for feedback and/or advice.

1) Celtic Tuning - I've always used Celtic as a benchmark for many cars and trust their dealer network.  My only concern is off the shelf maps.
2) Performance centre - They run a full diagnostic and do a road map tune to check all the parameters are good.  Only issue is they are based 4.5 hours away although I can have it done by another tuning company through their guidance.

Car currently only has the back box removed (bought like this) and I don't intend to go wild or any further with this setup.  Keen to hear your thoughts.

Regards,

Hi There Forum,

I've bought my 1.6T SRI just over a month ago.  Had a few hiccups thus far but otherwise happy with the purchase.  Seems the 1.6T is a bit unloved and everyone prefers the diesels lol.

P0171 error and ESC light on
Posted by: Rymaan82 - 1:st-Aug-2021, 17:57:49 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC Technical - No Replies

Hi All,

Been a long time since I've been on here Smile. But looking for some advice if possible.

Cut a long story short about a month ago I had performance issues with my Astra J 1.6 2010 with it having dead spots in acceleration and occasionally cutting out when idle. Hooked it up to an simple OBD reader and errors all pointing to a faulty O2 sensor bank 1. So I purchased a replacement from euro car spares (no Bosch in stock at the time but the next one that was recommended was a FAE branded o2 sensor) Didnt get round to fitting it then as the old sensor was pretty much seized and wouldnt budge. Anyway only got round to getting the sensor fitted this week, car seems to running better however its now showing P0171 bank 1 too lean error, the ESP light has also come on saying it needs a service and now today the power steering light randomly flashing on and off. Ive checked the filter for obstructions and filter hose for any cracks, the pcv valve in the rocker casing doesnt seem to be sucking air in via the small hole but the oil cap can feel a little resistant in suction as well as the dip stick. Do I have an air leak somewhere maybe the manifold? Or is this a case of the sensor messing up the ECU and isnt playing nice? Really dont want to be going in and out of the garage and changing different parts if I can help it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi guys.
Is there anyway to find all the option codes (POCs) that a car has and what each of them mean?
Thanks.

  Electronic handbrake not working
Posted by: Euroshopper - 28:th-Jul-2021, 18:50:55 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (3)

Hello

My handbrake is not working, the braking cable gets tight and compresses the lever on the brake caliper but nothing happens. (This tells me that there is nothing wrong with the electronic handbrake but rather the brake caliper itself) This is on both wheels. The lever I am talking about is pictured below. My brake pads are in need of a change but they have quite a few miles left in them and this should not happen.

To me it seems like the brake caliper lever gets depressed to the maximum amount and nothing happens. The handbrake first malfunctioned on one wheel, but it is now on two wheels.

Have some one experienced this before? Do I need to change both rare brake calipers?

Kind regards
