Electronic handbrake not working - Euroshopper - 28:th-Jul-2021

Hello

My handbrake is not working, the braking cable gets tight and compresses the lever on the brake caliper but nothing happens. (This tells me that there is nothing wrong with the electronic handbrake but rather the brake caliper itself) This is on both wheels. The lever I am talking about is pictured below. My brake pads are in need of a change but they have quite a few miles left in them and this should not happen.

To me it seems like the brake caliper lever gets depressed to the maximum amount and nothing happens. The handbrake first malfunctioned on one wheel, but it is now on two wheels.

Have some one experienced this before? Do I need to change both rare brake calipers?

Kind regards

Can you move the lever by hand, possible you have seized calipers

Yes, I can move them by hand. Is your best guess to change both rare brake calipers? Normal breaking is fine though

I am guessing you are probably right, because I almost never use my electronic handbrake and the car is parked outside.

It sounds that way to me, have you had it off the floor and tried to manually apply handbrake via caliper just to see if it grips disc. obviously won't be as tight as cable but should feel a change.
