HELP astra j 1.7 cutting out
Posted by: Lsmcdti - 27:th-Oct-2016, 19:07:50 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (3)

I have an astra j 60 plate 1.7 cdti a few weeks ago it cut out and when i started it back up it would judder and cut out again, anyway aa bloke only found an egr code, it started and drove fine again so went home, i removed the egr which was not that dirty, cleaned and replaced and has been fine for approx 800 miles but on the way to work today it happened again, massive loss of power then cut off when i started it back up it cut out again, then started again and idled slighly rough but when i Pressed the accelerator nothing happened, i could put my foot to the floor and had no revs at all, it cut out again then on restarting it drove as normal again, got to work and waited for the aa , he got egr code again, he operated the egr via his diognostics and it was working fine, he said he thinks it might be getting stuck open but how can i be sure its the egr at fault before i pay out on parts or repairs ? Any ideas, if the egr was stuck open would it sit idling but have no responce from throttle, Any responce would be much appreciated, thanks

  Airflow issue?
Posted by: Dookified - 26:th-Oct-2016, 21:49:22 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC Common Problems - Replies (5)

Hi all,

New to the site so nice to meet you all.

I've bought a 2010 Astra SRI 1.4t a few weeks back but it's developed a fault but thought I'd ask for some advice!

Car drives fine but occasionally drops power when pulling off, say from a roundabout, like all the power drains out of it then suddenly resurges and drives back as normal.

Idle is fine but when left standing it gets rougher and rougher until it almost seems to stall out but then recovers.

Engine light has come on but can't see anything else.

I just thought I'd see if anyone else has had the same issue or any other suggestion?

Fault codes are. . .

P0106: MAP sensor
P0131: Oxygen-sensor heater 1
P0171: Fuel trim, too lean
P1101: Intake Air Flow System

Any ideas?

Hi all
New to the site and was wondering if someone could help me. i have a 2012 astra sri 2.0 cdti tourer and car is a bit rough when idling and seen on here some people use a product called pro tec so i went and bought some although i bought the diesel system super clean instead of the common rail system cleaner and just noticed that diesel system super clean wasnt to be used for cars with electronically driven filter regeneration additive tank systems so wondering if i can use this in the astra or not. thanks in advance

  Ticking Noise
Posted by: eddier1558 - 26:th-Oct-2016, 14:03:53 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (10)

Thought I'd fire up a note on my experience in case there's others out there with the same issue.

First off and to be clear I'm a fussy sod. I had been hearing a ticking noise from my 1.4t GTC for a while. Only audible with the window down and sounded like a nail in a tyre except it was linked to engine speed rather than road speed, could be heard if I rev'd the engine whilst the car was stationary.

Long story short I took the risk of getting the dealer to strip it down to find the issue. They worked with Vauxhall technical who for some reason told them to remove the sump and look at the bearings on the crank. I would have put money on it being the timing chain myself. Auxiliary belt had already been checked. Turns out the big end bearings were all badly scored. Vauxhall have now suggested an exchange engine for the car. I am in a hire Insignia until it's put in at Vauxhalls expense.

Given the input from Vauxhall technical being so accurate first time round I am suspicious that mine may not be the first one of these they have seen. Must also add the dealer has been brilliant throughout the process, definately had the feeling they were working for and with me rather against me which has been good.

Anyway hope that helps someone.
