Welcome back to the VXOC FORUM.
Sorry for our lack of support over the last year but MYBB is back and so are we.
Let's get the forum buzzing again... (March 25, 2022)x
Not long had my Astra j elite 2.0 ecoflex as I had a 1.6tdci fiesta before.
What mpg are people getting?
I'm currently driving like a granny. Have never driven so sensible in my life yet only getting 34mpg on a 20mile to work and 20 mile back from work journey. Mostly all long straight roads not stop start.
A full tank says I'll get 450 but have already done a quarter tank and only done 80 or so.
I'm planing to fit original Xenon headlight to my car but I have limited skills for modifying looms (not brave enough , big applause to Rusty I'm always amazed what he did with his fit.) and no VCI coding...
So my plan is to use orginal looms and connectors of the car and modify the ones in the xenon headlight but I have some questions in my mind and I want to ask them before I buy materials... If you give your opinions I will be really appreciated...
1. Xenon headlight low beams on the projector lens how about high beams ? Are they in the same place with the halogen headlights or projector and a second bulb is working together create high beam ?
2. As Rusty explained his manual sockets are same with both headlight but when you connect xenon high beams are not working... I think that wiring or socket pin placement is different on the xenon, what if I modify socket or wiring some how to match same halogen headlight will it work ?
3. If I understand correctly Rusty mentioned that headlight washing system wiring is there but at the end of his topic he didn't mentioned that he installed washing system or not.. (or I just missed it)... So can I modify my orginal no washing bumber to have washing system and install headlight washer without VCI code?
For leveling I found after market auto leveling module so that is can be done with out programing... And I'm not after AFL so that is okey...
I thought to buy after market xenon headlight which can be used direct swap from halogen but they don't look cool as the orginal...
So thanks in advance for your advice's and answers...
Hello all, I was driving home tonight and spotted something new on my dash, I'm not sure if I've ever seen it before and nor can I find anything related/more information to it, here's an image..
Had my Astra-J 2.0 CDTi Elite a couple of years now. Now getting to the age where things are starting to need doing to it. Not shy when it comes to using spanners and the like. Hopefully will be learning some stuff to save me a spanking from the main dealer prices.
When I unscrew the cap to the coolant tank there's a black cap or filter there that won't come out, coolant won't seep through it either so I can't put any in.

There have been a couple of items in the news in recent days about the cost of car insurance...
One claiming that comprehensive car insurance premiums rose on average by 14% (£95) during 2016 and the other that men still pay more than women even though gender equality rules state insurers can't specifically use gender as a rating factor.
Of course, on the question of gender there are other risk factors that produce the result - men tend to cover more miles and are more likely to drive for work, have sportier cars and more motoring convictions. Those are each rated on for all drivers, so gender doesn't specifically feature.
Nevertheless, these headlines highlight the need to get a competitive quote at renewal. At Chris Knott Insurance we're always happy to quote you, even if it's just so you can benchmark your existing cover and price.
It worked really well for this member of the Yeti Owners Club: "I received a great quote from Chris Knott when my Yeti came up for renewal this November. Shamefully I'd been with D*****L*** for several years without shopping around so my premium was very uncompetitive. Chris Knott halved it! So I got a quote for the other half's new car too and they were still the cheapest around for combined insurance."discosteve

As a member of the car enthusiast community you really can save money when switching to Chris Knott and NOT just in year one:
"I got a good deal this year with Chris Knott, both mine and Nicci's daily insurances."Ettienne, Volvo Performance Club UK
"EP3 Insured with Chris Knott - matched best price and better policy. Just taken out a policy through Ian at Chris Knott Insurance and am really pleased. I used the usual websites to try to get a decent quote for my EP3, most of the premiums look ok but once into the details each online policy seemed to have a hole in; no legal cover, no replacement car, month's salary for an excess etc, etc. Called up Chris Knott and not only could they match the online price, the policy had a lower excess, added legal cover and an extra 2000 miles on the policy. Give 'em a try."JTM12, Typre-R-Owners.co.uk
"I've been getting my Volvo insurance through Chris Knott for many years, hard to find good insurance for modified cars."t5_andy, Volvo Owners Club
"Sensible car insurance renewal arrived this morning from ChrisKnottIns - easily undercut my other like-for-like quotes by £200+ nice one!"Chris Green, Twitter
Real newbie here, just put a deposit down on a 1.7 CDTi excite. This is my first car so can't wait to go pick it up.
Having some trouble uploading a picture but will try get one up soon.
I have a 2012 Sri 1.6T, It doesn't happen all the time but regularly enough to bother me. What's happening is when I'm.accelerating the engine is chugging, it's not turning off. no matter what gear I'm in or how hard I'm accelerating it will still happen.
Ive got a 12 plate GTC 1.4T . I bought it from Vauxhall in March 2016 ( so they serviced it then, but not sure to what level of service) it had 24k miles when i bought it. It will have done about 31k by the end of Feb. Should I get a Major or an Interim service? And As I didn't buy it Brand new, My 1 year warrenty runs out soon, so should I bother using vauxhall for the upcoming service and M.O.T or just use a local garage and save £50 ?
