  Lowering and wheel spacers
Posted by: twinpipes - 21:st-Jul-2019, 14:38:47 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (1)

Want to lower and maybe spacers on  my 2017 GTC 1.6cdti limited edition, there is a good 40mm/45mm space from wheel to arch on front and back, I have 20" rims on with factory 245/45/20 tires. Have measured the wheels with a straight edge to get distance from arch, 20mm spacers would be out past a bit 15mm maybe good front and back, any pics or feedback welcome

  Newbie to VXOC

Hi all

How’s everyone?

I’m new to VXOC but not new to this world of enthusiasts.

I’ve been with ***** for some time (astra owners club) with my mk5 sri xp.

I’ve been away for years and now back with my grey 5 dr astra j 1.6 Sri. Just purchased yesterday so waiting for collection.

Looking to do subtle nice mods but nothing drastic as it’s also my wife’s daily family car. I drive my company car but want to give it that individuality touch.

Any suggestions?

Here is my car[Image: 91de8822625ad2f9bb11247065becb77.jpg]

I retrofitted rear electrical Windows, fog Lights, Bluetooth, DAB and Navi 900 by myself.

Next is rear camera and maybe AFL

Pictures will come soon.

  Rough idling + knock isuses
Posted by: Slogicus - 18:th-Jul-2019, 09:58:47 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC Common Problems - Replies (1)

Hi, just hoping someone has any thoughts on a rough running issue. The car is a 2015 Astra J GTC SRI with the 2.0 diesel (A 20 DTH). Everything was fine before the last service 3 weeks ago, since the service the idle from cold start is rough with fluctuations of 50-100 rpm and when it's particularly bad there is a knock from the engine almost as though the timing is being advanced.

The issue is at it's worst in hot weather but can occur at any time from a cold start.

I've taken it back to Vauxhall who have refused to investigate properly because there aren't any fault codes. My local dealership is particularly poor when it comes to diagnosing issues so I should have expected that response but had to ask!

Any thoughts?

Many thanks!

Had the car roughly 3 months now, and there's 3 things that are driving me somewhat bloody insane.

First off was water getting in and sitting in the spare wheel well in the boot. After a return to the dealer they said it was due to the grommets for the brake lights, they replaced both sides just to be sure, and resealed. Or so they claim. Going in again now tomorrow as there's still water getting in behind the n/s brake light and sitting in the access panel on the boot lid (So I get water dripping on me head like a right spanner when I get the shopping out the boot)

Next up is a real doosey, and it's getting to a point where I'm ready to just tell the dealer to take the car back, and it involves the driver seat. Full leather interior, with bucket seats up front. The problem is with the Driver's seat base. The left side of the "bucket" seems to move around and squeak something awful whenever any weight moves on the seat. Which it tends to when I'm driving, and on these roads it means it's a constant overpowering noise. Seat had been stripped and "adjusted", and within 4 days, the problem is back, not only back, but evolved! Now I can feel the entire centre portion of the seat move underneath me when going through a corner, along with a satisfying "thud" when moving. Going to be bringing this up again, was promised a new seat base under sales warranty should the problem persist.

And the third is to do with the radio surround, where my leg rests when off the clutch, it's basically up against the surround trim, squeaks and creaks and pops a little.

I accept there's little I can do about a knackered seat, but what fixes can be done for the water ingress? (assuming the dealership still can't fix it, and I am assuming that) I feel like the problem almost certainly involves the guttering for the brake lights.
As for the surround trim, would sponge-packing around it be enough, or would something more substantial be needed to prevent any movement and thus squeaking?

  Power, performance and looks
Posted by: RVernon - 13:th-Jul-2019, 15:33:21 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (1)

Hi all I’ve recently bought a 2011 Astra j 2.0 cdti sri and I would like some help please. I want to improve performance and power and was wondering where a can get performance parts or even if I actually need to get performance parts such as turbocharger, air filter, radiator, inter cooler, fuel injectors, coil overs and any other parts I may need. I know about remapping and tuning box’s which I think I’m going for a remap. I’m kind of new to this stuff so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
