i'm looking to gather some bits to upgrade the sounds in my 5 door.
I've read the how too;s but have a few questions
i will be keeping the standard CD400 head unit and use a rca converter to install my sub and amp in the boot but at the same time i will probably look to put some component speakers in the front doors.
Does anyone know the power output of the CD400? i'm guessing about 35-40rms?
i already have the standard tweeters in my dash, but do these have a crossover? if so i will just use the standard wiring.
has anyone made their own mdf speaker rings for the doors rather than the plastic ones? i havnt had the door trims off yet so not sure what i'm dealing with, but on past cars mdf has always been the way to go for better sound along with some sound deadening.

Hi All
Always felt my GTC 6spd box was a bit notchy 1st-2nd, well yesterday it finally became a more serious issue and now the car will not hold in 2nd under any load it just wants to jump back into neutral so nursed it home doing 1st - 3rd changes and dumped it on the drive.
I've built gearboxes before but not for anything Vauxhall - I have seen pics of gearboxes rebuilt in situ by removing the wheel, arch and casing to reveal gear clusters but I think that was an earlier astra possibly with M32 box. The car is about 3yr 8 month old so out of 3 year VX warranty even though it only has 25k on it. Really pissed off with it. Can these be done in situ too or is it a gearbox out job? And where might I get spare parts other than the dreaded dealership?
I'm assuming it's the dogs on 3rd gear... it changes into 2nd fine, 2nd is still there not completely blown just won't hold it
Any help would be great... towing the line between needing the car back asap but not wanting to get royally spanked taking it to VX.

| 2.0 cdti battery replacement |

The battery on my 2011 2.0 cdti J needs changing so picked one up from ecp, everywhere I have checked have said it's a 100 type battery it needs, but the one from ECP is too short and doesn't fit in the tray fully. Looking at the dimensions online it is 278x17x17cm, but the one in the car at the minute is 310x17x17cm and has a 108 printed on the top. Ive had a look around and the next one is a 110 model which is the correct size but just wanted to make sure or check if anyone else has had the same problem. When ive done a search for insignia batteries it suggests the 110 type. Any help would be grateful.

| RTI/Finance GAP Cover from Chris Knott |

Hi,
As well as offering members competitive car insurance, Chris Knott provides a couple of other products aimed at helping car enthusiasts like you to get back on the road quickly following an accident.
One such product is our RTI/Finance GAP Insurance - we call it 'Combination GAP'. This pays the difference between your car's purchase price and your insurer's payout following a total loss/write-off. If you've got the car on finance and there's a greater amount owing, the policy pays this higher amount instead. Great news!
Chris Knott GAP is available on all makes and models so it doesn't even have to be your club/forum car that you're arranging cover for.
The premium is based on the original invoice or finance amount for the vehicle and we have heard that car dealers, for example, want £399 or more for 3 years' cover on a £24,995 car.
Chris Knott's price for this same cover is just £120.00 and vehicles upto £15k are covered for an even cheaper £85.00.
Why not ask us for a quote if you're buying a new 66 plate car or even a slightly older model (cover can be arranged for any car under 8 years old with less than 80,000 miles on the clock).
This forum's dedicated link to quote and buy online is:
Dedicated GAP Quote & Buy link
or you can call us on 0800 917 2274 to speak to one of our friendly team members about this valuable protection.
best,
Nick

Hello, just joined up as i usually do to a new forum when i get a new car.
I picked up a 2012 Exclusiv on saturday, 1.7 cdti (110) in white.
Previously i have had an e46, corsa d, mk3 golf Gti and a few more not worth mentioning.
Its got a couple of bodywork issues, rear passenger door has a dent and scrape and the drivers front wing has a little dent that may pull out on the wheel arch. so i will be looking to sort these out straight away.
i will probably also be upgrading the speakers at some pint in the future and maybe install my trusty kenwood tornado sub in the boot, depending on how the front speaker upgrades sound. I will also look into sound deadening.
I have also seen the guide on here for the rear parking sensor install which i will also have a crack at, as i'm so used to them on the BMW that ive forgotten how to park properly without them!
i would also like a small drop and some alloys, but these will probably not happen unless a decent deal falls at my feet.
First up will be a interior clean and exterior wax and polish and assess the options with the damaged panels to see if repairs or replacements are needed. then probably parking sensors and speaker upgrades.

Hi all.... Anyone had a good or bad experience at VOXCAR in St. Helens ..... They are a Vauxhall specialist and I would rather take a car elsewhere other than a main dealer
Cheers James
