  Advice needed on Android HU
Posted by: cdunham1974 - 31:st-Mar-2018, 08:42:23 - Forum: ICE - Replies (5)

Hi All,

I'll start with my specs: 2012 Astra GTC 1.7 CDTi SRI, CD400 with factory fitted USB, Bluetooth and DAB.

I've owned this car from new and am now looking to spec it up a bit internally as I tend to drive a fair amount for work and want some more creature comforts inside.

First item on the list is an Android HU to replace the crappy 4 line display above the CD400 while ideally keeping the same controls so it still looks fairly stock, I'm one of those weird people who actually likes the centre console as I know where every button is using just muscle memory Smile

Main use (other than looking nice) would be for Waze to complement my Tom Tom sat nav and playing music/audiobooks from my Android phone, finally enabling me to get rid of the old iPhone I currently use as an iPod.

After reading through the threads on here I'm leaning towards the V5754 from iceboxauto (unless it's available from other places as well, that's not clear), I have some questions though.

I'm interested in setting up a rear view camera but I've heard you need the parking sensors to get the full use out of it (I don't have those as at the time I bought the car I thought, tongue firmly in cheek, "I'm a bloke I know how to park why would I need sensors Tongue " of course this was before I realised how pathetic the rear view is in the GTC lol), Would it be better to get those fitted before doing the camera/HU upgrade or can they be added easily afterwards?

Secondly can the factory fitted Bluetooth and DAB be used with these units or would I need to buy the optional extras and route the cables for them? I'd like to keep the bluetooth ideally more than anything as while I'm comfortable taking the dash apart to fit the new radio/HU I'm not liking the idea of stripping door cards and other necessaries to route cable up A posts etc. DAB isn't as important (though it would be nice) as I can just use Internet radio on the occasions I actually listen to the radio.

Thirdly I've been reading that the S160 based HU's come with a cable to allow the use of the factory fitted USB but the newer HU's don't, is this still the case or has someone been able to source a replacement cable that does the job?

And finally does anybody have any other recommendations for HU's other that what I've mentioned already?

Many TIA for any help anybody can give with my queries Smile

MOT Fail - Broken Rear Coil Spring
Posted by: marcus01 - 30:th-Mar-2018, 15:10:51 - Forum: Request for information - Replies (13)

So my car failed MOT today due to the left rear coil spring having snapped. Mileage on 66K. (2012 2.0 cdti sri vx-line) I can't say I have noticed that the coil spring was knackered having driven the car etc.

Anyway decided to replace both rear coil springs so I've managed to source 2 Astra J SRI springs (Part No : 13340838) off eBay for 100 quid but have noted in the Haynes workshop manual that I should probably use new shock absorber bolts.

Anyone know what the part numbers are for these bolts or are they of the generic type.. ?

Replacing the rear coil strings looks easy enough or am I missing something here? (Yes I have bought a torque wrench :Smile have axel stands, trolley jack )

Thanks

Hi,

Obviously this will be an introduction (I know who'd have thought it, an introduction in the introduction forum, whatever next...)

I was looking for info on an aftermarket Android Auto HU for my 2012 Astra GTC SRI and stumbled across this forum and thought it looked like a good place to spend some time Smile

I freely acknowledge I know very little about cars and am not particularly DIY minded (unless it's to do with computers then it's another matter) so I'm looking forward to reading through the tutorials (with a lot of apprehension) and then will probably end up looking for someone I can pay to do the work for me anyway Smile

Regards,

Craig

  fitting parts from other vauxhalls

So, i have this insignia cluster, up level display.

and i have a clone tech2,

tried to add the insignia cluster to my car and i guess predictably it refuses with a hardware mismatch.

i altered the eeprom to have my cars vin number and security code.. i couldnt figure out whdere the mileage is stored in the eeprom dump... so i left that bit alone... this was enough to allow me to do a 'program' session on the BCM which removed the mileage lock out that i'd triggered on the insignisas ipc, and it shows the mileage of my car now.. so auto updates the real mileage from the bcm i guess....

but annoyingly it has 2 check things on start up (due to things my car dosent have.... park assist and sommat else)

and i get the airbag warning light and check engine light on all the time.. due to the ipc coming from a crashed car i presume, and due to the hardware mismatch i cant perform a program/settings update on the ipc.

Is there any way to get the insignia's cluster to work with my meriva?  something else ot fudge in the eeprom settings?

the insignias cluster is my play about cluster, cost me next to nothing, but i'd like to figure it out if i can... also, this means that if i get a uk astra J uplevel cluster, i'll have the same issue of a hardware mismatch trying to marry it to the meriva.

yes i do have a kph meriva cluster... but i screwed that up de-soldering the eeprom before my hot air unit arrived, and constant messing has resulted in loosing too many tracks on the pcb to save it i think... i deffo would never trust it in the car if i do manage to trace and fix all the tracks that have gone.... so i'll likely never know if i can change it to a uk mph version... and finding a mph up level meriva B cdti ipc is impossible,

Lightbulb Weird electical fault
Posted by: JamesClark - 26:th-Mar-2018, 21:46:17 - Forum: Astra-J/GTC - Replies (6)

Hi there,

Would really appreciate some help with this one, my Astra J has developed a weird electrical fault. Most of the exterior lights have stopped working except for the middle brake light and high beams, the interior lights have stopped, the central locking, fans and rear window washer as well. This all happened at the same time, I get lights on the dash saying that I need to check the bulbs but that doesn't make sense with everything stopping at once. I've had it to a couple of garages who have both said it's the fuse box, but Vauxhall want around £700 to replace this.

Is there anything else that it could be? I've going to try and take the fuse box out and spray with WD40. Also, my car was serviced about 10 days before this happened - when I took it for the service I had a message on the dash to check one of the daytime running lights, this message went after the service but the bulb was never changed. Could that have anything to do with it?

  Astra J GTC

Hi all, just thought I’d upload a photo while she’s nice and clean. So far the wheels have been done in a custom one off colour.

The front grills and the fog light surrounds have been sprayed in gloss black with the Griffin in power red, although these will be getting resonated in the same colour as the wheels.

Next the front splitter will also be sprayed in the same colour as the wheels, followed by the mirror covers, chrome trim along the windows and then finally the roof spoiler trim and rear panel all in the same colour.

The colour is just gloss black without sunlight but then when the sunlight hits it it really pops up with red, blue, green and gold xirallics.

Then gonna start looking at the interior. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Abs light and service esp warning 1 week before MOT [emoji24]
Posted by: Sc0tty05 - 24:th-Mar-2018, 11:40:03 - Forum: Electrical - Replies (5)

Hello,

Nightmare scenario 1 week out from MOT ABS light and Service ESP message along with the traction control light have come on.

I have opcom and I tried firstly to clear all faults lights came straight back.

The only portion of the diagnostic code i can see is as follows:

**********************ECU ID STARTS**********************

Source Address: EBCM

Identifier: 0x2B02

Number of stored fault codes: 2

C0110 - Pump Motor Circuit

(00) - Present

C0110 - Pump Motor Circuit - Open

(04) - Present

Would someone be able to point me in the right direction of where to start troubleshooting this?

Thanks in advance for any help received.

Scott
