airflow issue?

Airflow issue?

Hi all,

New to the site so nice to meet you all.

I've bought a 2010 Astra SRI 1.4t a few weeks back but it's developed a fault but thought I'd ask for some advice!

Car drives fine but occasionally drops power when pulling off, say from a roundabout, like all the power drains out of it then suddenly resurges and drives back as normal.

Idle is fine but when left standing it gets rougher and rougher until it almost seems to stall out but then recovers.

Engine light has come on but can't see anything else.

I just thought I'd see if anyone else has had the same issue or any other suggestion?

Fault codes are. . .

P0106: MAP sensor
P0131: Oxygen-sensor heater 1
P0171: Fuel trim, too lean
P1101: Intake Air Flow System

Any ideas?

well you're getting starved of air and fuel so maybe due to a faulty mass air flow meter sensor
your car needs to be looked at and diagnosed professionally as to find what is the problem

I think you have a problem with your EGR Valve which could be faulty and staying stuck open intermittent so, get it checked or if you can get a good quality of fuel treatment it might help clean the intake system..........

Symptoms would suggest a faulty MAF sensor, with you saying the car feels bogged down and then surges back into life. Out of interest what air filter do you have? I would imagine the rest of the fault codes have come on as a knock on effect. If the MAF sensor is faulty then it cannot send reliable signals to the ECU about incoming air flow, which it needs to calculate the air fuel ratio alongside other things. The most likely scenario in your case is an intermittent fault with the MAF signals causing the ECU to interpret this as low airflow and thus shortening the injector duration to use less fuel. I believe that the 1.4t engine is the same as that of the corsa black editions. quickest way to diagnose it would be to unplug the maf sensor and see how the car idles. If idle smoothes out then you can put you money on the Maf being at fault. Let us know how you get on and either way get it booked in for a diagnostic scan afterwards incase there is still an underlying issue

Turns out it was a faulty PCV valve... Unfortunately built in to the rocker cover so that's being changed now!

Thanks for the suggestions though! Helped narrow it down!
