Hi Guys if anyone has a noise on cold start up that's sounds similar to a failing water pump but disappears after 10 seconds it could be the auxilary belt tensioner as I just replaced my belt and tensioner yesterday and what a difference. £70 fix so not too expensive just thought I would give everyone a wee heads up and the best way to confirm this is remove the auxilary belt and do a cold start and see if the noise has disappeared as well as feel for play in the pulleys as well.

I have a noise on cold start but only if the car has been stood for a couple days. it's like metal on metal.

Yeah mine sounded similar and it turned out to be the auxilary belt tensioner, if you know your not using it for a bit take the auxilary belt off and try starting it and see if the noise is gone, fairly easy to take the belt off anyway as that's my car now finally all good lol.

I also changed the auxilary belt as well since I had it off anyway.
