So had a remap a few weeks ago in Cardiff, few friends have had one there and had no problems at all. Had it done, felt hardly any difference. It's a 2012 2.0 Cdti.
Put my foot down in 6th, straight into limp mode because of overboost. Guy said he had adapted an insignia map to suit it. Took it back and they changed it, no more limp mode but still hardly a difference, and poor fuel consumption.
Took it do a dyno, got figures of 167 bhp and 390nm. Torque has improved a little but hardly any bhp, 160 standard.
Now they are saying it's probably a turbo problem. I don't think it is tbh, any one had problems with remaps on this car? Or any suggestions what it could be? Thanks

I know there were lots of issues with using tuning boxes and having Astra's re mapped after a recent software update, the fact it was a previous insignia map doesn't sound great to begin with. Who was the re map done by ? I was disappointed with my map as my 160 only made it to 190 compared to some of the figures I have seen on here I felt it was low but still feels good to drive however i would be quite disappointed with the results yours achieved with their map

Ps the issues were normally with plug in and play maps instead of purpose written ones

Thanks for the replies. It's being done with a1 remapping in Cardiff. I tried using a tuning box before, that only gave 170 bhp. I'm stumped on this one

Sometimes if you have had previous equipment changing the parameters of the vehicle like a tuning box it can effect it

Aye it is but that's including dpf removal, egr, factory speed limiter removal and basically everything you can remove to add performance without hitting stage 2 yet plus all error codes cleared so it will pass mot still

That's more realistic with the removals as well, have you seen the plans to introduce more in depth checks on DPF's during MOT's ?

Was it done on a rolling road?
I would not buy the turbo issue.
I'm planning on having my done next year with DPF & EGR delete, I'm going to a place in Kent that @Dicko1 has used.

I wouldn't have a map unless it's done on a rolling road.
I would get them to remove the map give you a full refund and go elsewhere for it to be done.

So after some discussions with them, and trying to make him realise the turbo is fine, they are going to make another map, how without the car or a dyno I don't know, and put it on next week. If this doesn't work, I'll be getting my money back. He seemed to suggest it might be the wastegate being stuck open at time, which I believe would stop it making any boost, and suggested some fuel additive next time I fill up...

I've had a sticking wastegate and had a new turbo, fuel additive will not help the turbo.
The only way to have a map done that suits your car is on a dyno. It sounds to me this company are just using a fits all map and tweaking it here there without any tests.

Thanks, been measuring boost through torque app and its kicking in around 1800, up to I believe 22.5 psi. This sound right? Since the newer map haven't had limp mode at all

basically correct the ecu has to be removed on the 2.0 cdti and a custum map written
but there is also a code to overcome before they can rewrite it not every mapper can do this
you have just been fobbed off they have not done it as there is no gain what so ever
if you had turbo problems you would be seeing large dips in power and as the dyno showed
your car is fine and putting out the correct bhp a couple of bhp either way is normal
so my conclusion is no job has been done they are fobbing you off and charging you for there time
i would only use a mapper who has mapped a 2.0 cdti 2012 to 2014 as that's when the ecu gets tricky to map
and the ecu has to be taken out
most likely trading standards for you mate
get them to put the standard map back on get your money back and go somewhere that can and has proven they can do it

As above.. they do not know how to do an Astra J map as far as I can see. There is no point in keeping something that has not made any noticable difference to the performance of your car. People like this who don't fully specialise in custom maps could end up damaging your car in the short, medium and long term.

Update, took it back this morning, hes keeping it overnight. Said he was working on it for hours. Still keeps suggesting he thinks the turbo is faulty which is why it won't boost properly and is giving an overboost error code. Most unorganised and amateur company I have dealt with

They asked to have it for the day, I agreed because I just wanted it sorted. Wandering round Cardiff for a few hours, get a phone call, ecu is still off and we close soon, we're going go need it overnight. I was too far to get down there and needed to get the train home

Sorry for the late reply. Got the car back the following after noon. Felt more responsive and more torquey straight away, but my heart sunk when clutch slipped a few times towards 3500 rpm. I took it easy and priced up a replacement, circa £1000. Couple of days later it stopped slipping, and hasn't slipped since. Got it on a dyno and had around 190 bhp and 400nm. Could have been better but not bad. Will post the dyno runs if anyone is interested
