M32 gearbox + remap/chip
#1
Recently picked up a GTC and looking into tuning options.

The car had a brand new gearbox fitted by a main Vauxhall dealer a few weeks ago during the process of buying car (20k miles on clock) due to a common problem with the bearings in the M32.

I was told the new fitted box is a superlative box and was just looking for some confirmation on this, have Vauxhall finally upped their game with the M32? Can anyone confirm?

Following on from this, how safe would the gearbox now be in terms of a remap and what effects would this have on the standard M32 or the possibly "superlative" M32?

This is on a 1.6 Turbo 180ps GTC for reference

Cheers

Be interesting to know if there really is a better version of the M32 out there which I highly doubt there is! Ha. Either way, I've been using a bluefin remap on my 1.7 for the past 8 months or so and it's been great! Feels like a beast now and everything has been okay so far!

Yeah that's the problem, wether this is true or not I don't know, would love to hope so in anyways, but considering there's the GTC 200 I would assume a remap of at least 200bhp should be relatively safe

Oh yeah! I reckon as long as you don't go over the top then you'd be fine! I mean I sort of went about 40BHP higher on mine and an extra 60nm of torque... There isn't a 1.7 this high big it's not a stupid increase so fingers crossed it will be fine... I think it's pot luck no matter how solid your gearbox is anyway unless you've got a custom one that's designed with a remap in mind. I'd just go for it... But that's me... I've no technical data to back up my choice or the fact I told you to go for it haha
