What gearbox oil ? 1.7 cdti
Hi guys I got the astra 1.7 cdti as you prob all know the gear box is crap lol,I have read up on changing the gear box oil ... Most people say that the vaux one is shot they basically use the same for power steering ... I was thinking of using thishttp://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=181494589911&alt=web
it states that it is ok for a 1.7 cdti but I want to be sure before I buy it ... My friend has the m32 box in his corsa and he put this oil in it and he said it feels a lot smoother

Gearbox Oil Change?
I'm looking to change the oil in my M32 gearbox and was wondering if there was any changes over the mk's of Astra to the layout of filler, drain and level check plugs?
I found this how to, seems pretty good. Is it similar or still the same? I can't see why they would change the layout. I think the link is for the Astra H VXR M32.

GTC Auto Gearbox
So I am just wondering if the auto box on the GTC has a 'learning' function.

I used to own a Mitsubishi FTO which the gearbox 'learned' your driving style you had to reset the gearbox ECU and you put it in manual mode and drive for half an hour and it would 'learn' your driving style so would drive like this while in auto mode till you reset it again.

Engine and Gearbox Options
So I have been looking at new cars just to pass the time of day but have noticed that there are far fewer options for Auto drivers than manual.

I love fast cars and have down sized cars to try and save money but the thirst fro more power always gets me.

I love my little GTC and cant fault it but I thought I wonder if there is a faster alternative for me.

I have to drive auto's now because of an accident and looked about to see what Vauxhall offered but in the GTC I am stuck with the 1.4

GTC 2.0CDTI Gearbox issues
Hi All

Always felt my GTC 6spd box was a bit notchy 1st-2nd, well yesterday it finally became a more serious issue and now the car will not hold in 2nd under any load it just wants to jump back into neutral so nursed it home doing 1st - 3rd changes and dumped it on the drive.

I've built gearboxes before but not for anything Vauxhall - I have seen pics of gearboxes rebuilt in situ by removing the wheel, arch and casing to reveal gear clusters but I think that was an earlier astra possibly w

M32 gearbox + remap/chip
Recently picked up a GTC and looking into tuning options.

The car had a brand new gearbox fitted by a main Vauxhall dealer a few weeks ago during the process of buying car (20k miles on clock) due to a common problem with the bearings in the M32.

I was told the new fitted box is a superlative box and was just looking for some confirmation on this, have Vauxhall finally upped their game with the M32? Can anyone confirm?

Following on from this, how safe would the gearbox now be in terms o

Gearbox Issues :(
Right I'll try to describe as best as I can.

Got an astra 1.6 petrol (5 speed box). Hate the car but hey ho.

Noticed a noise a week or so ago, it almost sounds like it's whistling slightly as I was going up through the revs, mainly around 2/3k.

But tonight I've noticed something else, when I'm going slowly through traffic it sounds like somethings grating, as I move faster the grating gets faster, but when I drop the clutch it stops and starts again when clutch is lifted.

Sounds lik

JTC 1.4T (Automatic Gearbox) Downhill issue
Hello Experts,

Just wondering, Does any one here experience a wierd behaviour on Rev gauge while on a not so steep downhill?

Basically, i own an Astra GTC 1.4T Auto transmission and when i'm doing a downhill, (doing around 40 ~ 60 mph - rev around 2000 rpm) and apply brake to slowdown, the engine rev goes up to 3000 ~ 4000 rpm.  Is this kind of normal?

I asked few Automatic car drivers (Jaguar XE owner and a BMW 3 Series owner - all 65 plate), and they said they haven't experinced such
