How To Retro fit the security LED Light

This how to covers How to Retro fit the LED Security light
So it looks like the origanl factory LED light.

First you need to get

1, Two rolls of 5 amp wire Red and Black
2, A Three way Switch
3, and a flashing LED.
4, A Piggy Back fuse and a extra 10 amp fuse.
5, Grill with the LED Dome.

STEP ONE...........

The First way i Tried was to Plug the origanl Connector
into the LED Dome on the Grill
The Grill will just Pull out of the Dash and the LED dome Just twists out from the Grill
You need to Remove the Console trim, Display trim, radio, and the Monitor
Behind the monitor you will find the Connector taped up to a Loom.

A How to can be found Here for trim removal radio etc
and the glove box removal.

http://www.vxoc.org.uk/forum/Thread-Howt...bin-filter

I Routed the loom Through the Speaker hole and Plugged it into the LED
But it would not Light up as there was no power

STEP TWO...........

So i took Power from the Glove box Fuse box
using a Piggy back Fuse in Position 16
I cut a Hole for a Switch in the Headlight Surround
and i took Ground from a Ground Point behind the Glove box
I then cut the Connector and Spliced the Power and Ground to the factory led.

Here is a Diagram of How to wire it all up.

Now the LED would Light up and Switch on and off now it had power
but it would not Flash So you could wire a flashing circuit to the LED To get it to work
But i just found it easier to get a flashing LED And put it inside the LED Dome.

STEP THREE............

Take the LED Dome and Push the Clips in on both side to Separate it Apart
Then take some Pliers and Pull the Circuit Board out
And Remove the white Blob from the Circuit Board and keep that to one side.

Place the Flashing LED into the Dome
and then push the white blob in side to hold the LED in place
the White Blob is Translucent and the LED will Shine thou it
then Pack the Dome with wadding and get the LED lined up so it Faces the Correct Position in the Dome
and then Refit it back Together so the Wires come out the Hole.

I then added a Connector to the wires on the LED
and the Wires in the Car for Power and Ground for the LED
To keep it all neat and tidy.

A How To on adding a Connector can be found Here.

http://www.vxoc.org.uk/forum/Thread-How-...-Connector

The LED will now flash when the switch is turned on
and go off when the switch is turned off.

And that is it you now have a Working Flashing Led
If you have the LED in the Correct Position it looks just like the Real Thing.

I am sure there are other ways to take Power with out adding a Switch
but that is what i went for if you have other ideas you are Welcome to add any info Here

Thanks and hope this helps.

As with all electrical how to,s we except no responsibility for any issues
and are carried out at your own risk. if the how to is follow correctly you will have no issues.
